Actually, you should be able to do so. On the switch screen, all switches activate correctly, it's just that it doesn't pull up anything but the first set of rates. I've done this for years with my 14MZ and most recently with my 18MZ. You can also do it with the DX18 and to some degree the 12X. Programming radios and knowing the different high end radios (JR, Futaba, Spectrum and Jeti) is another element of the hobby I enjoy. I've been an Electrical engineer specializing in embedded software design and development for over 25 years which also helps quite a bit in figuring these systems out. It's not uncommon for new radios to have not only bugs but "unfinished" features.
Having said that, I like where JR is going with the interface in this radio. It's very simple and the Dual Rate thing is the only issue I've found so far. I turned this in to the folks at JR America to see if they can figure it out or talk to the engineers in Japan about it.
Regarding your post, in the DR screen (as in many of the functions) the Flight mode essentially no different than programming a second switch on a function. In essence the "Flight Mode" is simply a logical "AND" with whatever switch you assign the function. So, if you look at the logic table I posted the other night, you can see that the combination of the two switches gets you all 9 positions active and displayed appropriately, they just don't link to anything beyond the first 3 DRs.
Doug, I'm sending the model to you. If anybody else wants to play with this and see if they can figure it out, I can post a test model that has the rate switches setup as described. I also provided this model to JR America.
I never rule out the possibility I'm "full of it" and in this particular instance, I'd like to be.. . But, this is JR and if it's not correct at this moment, you can bet it'll be right very soon.

anyone have a detailed info on the gear system? i have a u.p.3 valve for my corsair . i've never been a big fan of them as they get twitchy as the pressure gets low. i would rather run two robart air valves , one for the gear and the other for the gear doors "which i have setup to run on air". i didn't see a delay system which would allow the doors time to open before lowering the gear. and vice versa . Has anyne figured out how to activate voice prompts for the timers. The little beeps are useles on the flight line. And one shouldn't have to be looking at thr screen for this.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but at this time, voice alerts are only available for Flight Modes and Telemetry Data. Given the flexibility of the function for telemetry voice prompts, I would say that they have the flexibility under the hood to add additional voice prompt availability and flexibility in future software releases - only speculation. I would bet that they released this initial version of software with core functionality and that they will evolve and enhance it significantly. There is another thread started out there for a software wishlist.

I think your right Ace913. With an interface to the internet built into the radio and a customisable android system built in, I think updates will be available, just like they are for your apple phone etc. You will probably go to the JRPROPO site (default home page) and the radio will tell you there is an update available.... It's very possible. The android phones do this now, but didn't always. Time may see this happen I believe.
Upon connecting the radio to your WIFI Hub in your home, you might see something like "New Version OS available Version 1.1 UPDATE OK / CANCEL

Thanks guys. I suspect they wanted all of the important functions set and tested on the first batch. Firmware updates I'm wil come as more people dive in and I also JRPROPO is working on as we speak. Nature of the beast.

Sorry, bad link for the software wishlist. The link is posted above by EdBaker.
Okay, I've got my first flights using the 28x today. Aside from not being able to setup the DRs the way I want to, the radio performed flawlessly. I had 3 program mixes as well as 3 rate settings and throttle cut. The radio is super responsive and smooth. You can actually feel the high resolution. Very pleased!

Jeff,
When you click on the 'browser' button and your wifi is on it goes directly to the JRPROPO site. If you click on the 'download' button it responds with now downloads availabe. This will make updating firmware, etc. a snap. John

I pushed the RF link to the limit this weekend flying F3B. In one duration flight, I had my 118" sailplane so high I couldn't see it anymore. Full flaps, and nose down for 20 seconds brought it down to 1500 feet. The 28X and 712BX receiver never missed a beat. Super happy with this radio.
