Changing my last statement, people concerned about the model, which was not my intent. It was about that particular model that went to a particular shop for paint...that particular shop had an incident this past weekend on a very expensive tomahawk f-86.
Was just warning if such model was built by that particular shop.

The Jet Modeller Association (UK) had their AGM jet meeting today, although the conditions were far from ideal Steve Johnson was keen for me to get the SU-27 maiden done. A couple of U/C issues that only came up today-neither of us had obviously checked the gear with the wings on and the main doors stop in a different position when they stop on the wing, so the wheel struggles to clear. Watch out for this on any builds.
Some work on the field got just enough clearance for the gear to go away, Steve has a little more work, as on the first gear pass I had a hung leg. Luckily a second cycle got three legs in time for a hurried landing. Hopefully there is a video coming.
The Two 180's are ample power, I did not use full power once in the whole flight, take off and a vertical climb. Most of the flight was at 1/3rd power in a 17mph slight cross wind.
Its going to be great when we get it dialled in, my set up work was worthwhile as it landed with 0 on all trims :-)

Thanks for the flight report, Dave! I'm eager to get one. I'll be using a pair of Cheetah 160s, so hearing that the 180s were ample is encouraging. Seems as though the plane does well with the 100s too.

Andreas new SU 27 has two 120N turbines, he's flying it at FJ now.
You up don't get much from a day like we had, but gyro off and probably a little tail heavy, it shows it's going to be great.

I thought I saw a video of one of these hovering on facebook today. I was too busy to watch it, & now I can't find it. Was hoping it was posted here. Did anyone else see that?
Jay
P.S. Never mind, found the video, it wasn't a hover

What are you talking about, light breeze and the sun was above the grey cloud...i'm sure!
Sunday was better as the 'breeze' was not blowing over that huge mound of earth!

I have been following this thread for a while looking at the beautiful color schemes and paint progress as well as the test flight reports.
I am almost done mine. Still have to plumb the tanks, I had JetTech make an add on tank to have another 2L (well effective volume is really 1.8).
This kit does not come together smoothly, there are lots of issues with the left and right mold halves (not sure if CARF fixed that). Have to be very patient to build it since the instructions call for certain size control arms which work on one side but not the other. One of the stab carbon rods was not even in diameter across the length so there was lots of play, I cut the area and made a sleeve, also the main wheels purchased are absolutely terrible quality so upgraded to Behotec wheels and brakes. Main landing gear fit was an issue as well to make sure they fit properly on the rails and clear the skin and lots more small issues like that which pile up as you go along. Bottom line with patience you will get there.
Here are some photos and a video of the progress.
