Mate, that combo looks brilliant! I actually cracked my canopy the other day, and what do you think the total cost of tub, canopy and postage would be to Australia? Also what is your peferred payment option?
Thanks, Dave

C of G should be 13inches BACK from root leading edge. IE- where the very front of wing, butts up against fuselarge. Check c of g with a empty main fuel tank. Also make sure that you have a slight nose up attitude when at rest on the wheels. With 15 degrees of flap for take-off it will just take-off by itself in about 50-80 metres. Great model!

Last year (when I bought my Falcon) I checked back in the thread and people were using retracts and legs sold by Digitech specifically for the model.
Digitech no longer seem to do retracts, so does anyone know an alternative UK or European source for suitable retratcs & legs?

You just need to do a small mod to the nose leg
These retracts are very strong, I have about 6 sets

I would be interested in a couple of these, including the inner tray, if the total price is reasonable. If you were bulk buying, I would have to take into account getting them from you to me

Anybody had any problems getting off the the groung with a Ram 500 on grass. I have tried twice to takeoff from a 300ft bermuda grass runway. Not getting enough speed.

hey bud, as per the previous reply, check the nose is slightly high when it is on its wheels. If not, you can put packers under the nose retract mount but the wheel wont fully retract then, but will be fine for a test flight.
Check your engine down thrust (upthrust), if the rear of engine is pointing down more than a few degrees, then it will be pushing the nose leg down hard during take off. You could take a degree of down thrust away, again use packers under the engine mount.
Try reducing your fuel quantity, how much do you carry, try a 3/4 full tank and fly for say 5 mins, at least you will be airboune and see how she flys.
You could try a small amount of flap, although i didnt see any benifeit at my field, but others do, worth a try.
Are your wheels large enough for rough ground, small wheels will dig in, i use large wheels.
are the wheels free, and if brakes are fitted, are they releasing properly.
Check your c/g , too nose heavy will hinder rotation.
All the best tim

I have a +2 angle of incidence level with no fuel. Its actually a little more with fuel and the compression of the struts. It seems to do fine on asphalt, but i dont have anywhere i can fly from asphalt. Im thinking about putting a p-80 i have on it.

Somthing must be rong as this plane should easily get off with a 60 size turbine. I have also seen them fly and take off fine on a Wren 44 gold 10 lbs of thrust. You should need a P80 it is too big

The easiest solution is to go to the top of this page, click on "Search this Thread" and enter "C.G." You'll find a number of posts quickly.

my dads falcon has been flying for a good few years now but a couple of months ago got damaged on an arrival. Today though it finally took to the sky's again after a full re-spray/cover.

The Falcon's new scheme has now been finished and we flew it a few times this weekend at the British Nationals. I'd forgotten just how smooth and nice it was to fly. Had no issue at all with the high crosswind.....

I have removed the Ram 500 from the falcon and started installing the Jetcat P-80. I have the P-80 turned down to 18#. I believe this setup will get off of the 300 ft grass strip without any problem. I have a 90oz kevlar tank plus the UAT.

With a JetCat if you install the Pitot system you can restrict top speed without dialling down thrust, so full thrust for take off and verticals, but top speed electronically limited. you will also need to do a lot of reinforcement to the turbine mount on the fus to resist the bouncing crack with that weight turbine, I drilled 10mm right through the rear cantilever into the fus and Hysoled in two 10mm Carbon rods all the way up to the wing spar against the root rib.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
I was surprised that when i weighed the Ram 500 and the Jetcat P-80. The Jetcat is only 7.8 ounces heavier than the Ram 500. The support to the engine mount sounds like a good idea and i am going to do that as well.

Got a older P-80 in mine and just got her in the air after a long wait on bearing replacement. It is very smooth and a joy to fly.
A friend of mine put his GPS in it Sunday and I was floored. On a flat pass no diving it clocked 238 MPH. I think I am still nose heavy.
The P- 80 will be just fine...ENJOY
