Default Schulze Chamaleon

Hi guys. I am having some trouble with my charger and I was wondering where to send it in for repair. Do they have a service center in USA?

Thanks

Alex

Hi Jason,

I have one with the same problem which has already been returned and repaired but the problem is back.

How do you correct this?

Regards

Arthur

There’s two things I know of that will cause this the first is one of the three tiny surface mounted capacitors to the left of socket on the left hand side. I found the one of them went short circuit which makes the charger think it’s got a battery connected. I took them out one by one till I found which one was the problem if you are lucky then it will be the first one but I would replace them all anyway with normal capacitors. They are there to stop interference terminating the charge prematurely (apparently). I have fixed two this way and they are both going strong (Is yours Geoff?) I think I still have the values at work and will post them tomorrow. Spartan Missile had the same problem and his was traced to the top left (I think) transistor on the rail?

Thanks Jason,

That explains why when my charger was returned there was a poly bag with 3 knackered surface mount caps attached.

If you have the values of the caps that would save me sending it back again.

I would think they replaced them with non surface mount ones so they will have the values on them but I will post the values tomorrow anyway.

I had the same faults, but unfortunately jason's fix didnt help me.
I obviously fried it good.

I had a power mosfet go short on me.
I replaced 1st & 3rd fets from top left hand side with the nearest equivalent i had at work

IRFZ44

T0220 package
Pin out from left to right gate, drain, source.
Low RDSon, something like 0.025ohms.
Anything similar will do.

Be careful not to damage thermal interface strip when replacing the fets, you will end up shorting the drain pins

The 1st & 3rd fets are easy to replace once unscrewed from heatsink from other side
Re use any top hat insulators etc

HI all, I had the same problem so I sent it to Modelbau USA and they said they sent it to Germany to get fixed, to make a long story short, they then wanted $90 for the fix and wanted to send it back to me by UPS, they don"t use USPS.

For channel 1 I replaced these 2 fets

Please confirm the exact reference of the part.....IRTZ44? OR IRTZ44 T0220?
There is big chance that I can get it locally, but need to be sure what to ask

The other possibility is to order the capacitors to ALL ELECTRONICS....

Thanks in advance for your support,

MS

Heres the cap values.
Capacitor "1"
(if defective replace after the test by 22 ... 33 nF / 100 volts / foil type, not an SMD/SMT type)

Capacitor "2"
(if defective replace after the test by 22 ... 33 nF / 100 volts / foil type, not an SMD/SMT type)

Capacitor "3"
(if defective replace after the test by 100 nF / 100 volts / foil type, not an SMD/SMT type)

Jason,

What will you swap me for my Schulze ?
I hate it.
Poor tactile feel on the buttons, dreadful menu structure.
I just use it to charge my 12V lead acid leisure battery.

My 3 Robbe Infinity II's are great

You pair don't know what you are talking about. The chamelion IS the best charger in its price range and the best charger in a higher price range is also a chamelion.

Spartan, I'll swop you that oil you are so desparate for! now that's a good deal (for me)
