I used the OS46ax on mine and it's fine. However I did still needed quite a bit of weight for the nose. I have a 2400mah 4cell just aft of the nose gear former. I had thought about an OS61 for more power, I only used the 46 because I had it. I put a 10x8 pusher on the engine because that's what I could find. A 10x7 would be better or a little more power on the 10x8 would probably be just right. If I installed a slightly heavier engine like the 61 I could still move the battery forward of the former and get it to balance. The 46 moves it at 75 to 80mph not bad really. I toyed with the idea of a Wren44 which is only 6oz heavier than the OS46 (believe it or not) but this plane is really geared and designed for a 40 -60 pusher prop engine. As far as adding weight I believe it could handle an extra pound no problem. mine is 7.5lbs the landings are a breeze. Someone in the post was worried about getting the wing loading to high well, if this is a stepping stone for you (or anyone) into DF or turbine jets, your next step is sure to put you into a more heavily wing loaded plane anyway, might as well get used to it at $250 total instead of $5000.

I see OS is introducing a 55AX... 3 ounces lighter than the 46 and more displacement sounds pretty good.....

Hi.
I am from Turkey and have read this forum closely. I ordered from China, the manufacturer.
They do not accept credit card payment and sent the money by money transfer. It cost me total of 220 USD including shipment. By one week I got the plane with EMS (Chinese transport agency).
Model was surprisingly well covered and protected. It seems to me that model quality is great.
I have two engines (Magnum 50 and Os 46). Can you give me an advice which one is better for this bird?
Retract or fixed gears are better with this type of engine. I want to make some mods written in this forum. If you were me, what will you do?

See my posts no 402 and 413 (NODDY181) if you need any more setup ideas drop me a line, by the way I am now flying on a APC 9 x pusher on the TT46 pro and it is fantastic, I will be mounting a pipe underneath to look like a drop tank with a custom header, ps (a good source of 10mm and 12 mm aluminium bends is of the inside unit from automotive airconditioners that the compressed gas flows through, sorry dont know its proper name)

The Jan. 2007 Model Airplane News (page 148) has a nice write up on the NitroPlane's Bobcat
with an emphasis on electric conversion.

They're taking pre-orders, let's see how fast this next batch flys!:)

At 1500hrs Toronto Canada time I placed my order for one of the new silver Bobcats. I did get a confirnmation number and an e-mail stating that one was recserved for me but they are almost gone. WO, they are not even in the countyr yet and only started taking orders for them today. Man, They need to order alot more of thses tings and I'm glad I got one at $129.00. With this demand I'm sure the price is going to go up.

I ordered the new silver one last night. I got an e-mail this afternoon stating it was being shipped by UPS and they would notify me when it was actually being shipped. Less than a minutes later I get another e-mail with a FedEX tracking number.

The confirmation e-mail I received last night after placing my order gives you a number you click on to check the status of your order.
I checked it just now and it says:

Order status shipped.
Tracking method FedEx.
Shipping method UPS ground.

I did try and track it on the FedEx and UPS web sites but so far there is no record of it.


I am confused but don't really care if it really is on its way. If it is, it is 4 days from Calif to NJ so I sould see it next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Sorry to hear they are all gone.
The ads say pre-order with a ship date about 11/21. Today is only the 8th. Very surprised they are shipping them and are out already.

I got the same sort of email with mine, but it was 4 days before it was actually shipped..I suspect they prepare the paperwork ahead of time so when the shipment arrives they can turn them around really quick. Mine came Fedex ground, thank goodness...I have no use for United Parcel Smashers........

If I remember right, you have a Jett 50 in yours. What prop did you use?

I have a Jett 50 as well which I was saving for my Direct Connections F-20, which is in the finishing stage. I may put it in the Bobcat to let it loosen up a little. My other choices are a OS-50 FSR, Rossi 45, and an Enya 45-CX.

Anyone try the new O.S. .55 ax yet? 2. h.p. lighter weight and comes with rotational exhaust muffler. This may be the perfect choice for this one.

I have a OS 55ax on the way for my Bobcat. Should be here Friday. With any luck I'll have it flying Sunday morning and will report the results. We just had 2 days of 424 and 428 class pylon racing last weekend so I should be able to get a good idea about he speed range to compare against.

I had a rossi in mine and it flew ok. I was using a 10x6 pusher. I mounted a Jett 90lx and the problem there is the selection of high pitched props...or lack of. I have two of these kits. I ended toasting the sleeve in the Jett. What a bonehead.....
However, i decided to mount the motor in the nose. i am almost done. I was going to use a rev. crankshaft, but I was having cooling problems with this setup so i decided to mount engine in the nose.

I will be running a apc 10x10 and it suppose to turn at 16,000. It should make it haul butt pretty good. I know it's not as nice looking as the pusher setup...but I just can't risk burning another sleeve.

I will keep you guys posted on how it turns out and flys.

I will tell you that when I put the 90 on as a pusher, I had a 5 cell batt. up in the nose and only had to add 2oz to get it to bal. at 10".

Remeber when you set this bird up that you will want a slight nose high attitude. This way it will be easy to rotate on takeoff.

Question I would like to know If anybody has put a ducted fan on this model and if so, could you please post pictures.
I am getting one for my son and he whants a 46 ducted fan engine with a tubax fan and I wanted to now what you guys thought about this.

Jose,

The Turbax is not a pusher. You will need to figure out where to place the pipe. PLus ducted fans generally require ducting to get max performance. You may want to search for a Byron set-up or go electric with the Turbax.

I was thinking of Hanging the pipe on the stab or making something of the back of the plane where the engine goes. I know that the enforcer does not have any ducting.
