found this pic on Armorama forum, looks like the Tamiya kit is based on this actual real life tank noting what is written on the barrel of the main gun.

Interesting photo. Will support that the screen frame was held together with a mechanical fastener of some sort.
I'd be willing to bet a chocolate doughnut it isn't a Philips head screw...

For all the thought and effort that Tamiya has taken in the past to conceal un-scale fasteners (Tiger I for example) it is a glaring moment of CBF-ness to have an M3 screw head sitting out on the front corners like that.

Yeah that's kinda ok with me right now, I am getting burnt out from this JGSDF Type 10 build and also just bought a new fancy schmancy bed that cost as much as about 10 Sheridan kits.

The latest in the saga from AAF Tank Museum ....

"Ok, so I just spoke with a rep at Tamiya and he said the new Sheridan kits are not showing as shipped yet so it would be at least another month at best before we see them in the states. Sorry for the bad news. Please let me know if you have any questions."

I am actually relieved, gives me some breathing room to finish the Type 10 now, and I may end up using the new finespec radio ordered for the Sheridan on the Type 10, if that works well I forsee ordering another 5 of them and upgrading my whole Tamiya tank fleet to the new radio at some point.

I'd be interested in hearing about that radio! I keep hoping I'll run into some images of this new gearbox too.

Well Tamiya USA has received their production unit of the M551; those gearbox plates are pretty burly and the DMD screen just confirms settings. Still no clear indication of battle unit compatibility though.

Any info on the new DMD T-11? Looks like the electronics are now all in one box, with a LCD display - no more counting the flashing LED’s (is it red or yellow).

Thanks for the update and pics. It would be hard to imagine this doesn't have any battle system capability included.

A close look at the DMD shows the words on the 5th line down (with the black triangle)

•BATTLE SYSTEM RESET
SETTING MENU
HIGH POINT

I spoke with a rep at Tamiya and they have the estimated entry in to port of Los Angeles as 6/24, so figure a week to 10 days for customs clearance to get to Tamiya USa then shipping time to AAF and other retailers.

It really doesn't look like the photo etch front screen will be included, I understand the reasoning is it would potentially be ripped off or damaged during R/C use, but once the static kit comes out I will be ordering it as an upgrade if available since I only drive my tanks occasionally, on pavement or carpet and don't battle either.
