The crankcase vent nipple is brass colored as can be seen in the first photo. The engine is assembled at the factory without lubrication on any of the internal rotating parts as show in the photo of my new FG90R3. Before you do the first maiden run of the engine add at least 1oz of oil through the vent nipple while the aircraft is inverted on an aircraft stand, rotate the prop several times. Then place the aircraft on it's wheels and rotate the prop several more times. When you are satisfied that the engine internals have been lubricated, the engine is ready for it's maiden run.

He probably means the crankcase ventilation nipple, if it has one....I strongly recommend also if possible before the first run....move it around let it coat the inside of the crankcase and especially let it drain into the bearings.

ShrpShootr11 - glad to hear your maiden went well. Those are some nice pics. I bet it would fly even better with a pilot!

I'm finally getting ready for my build. I just ordered the DJ 72cc Version 2. Anyone else have this engine combo?

I am installing a G-62 in my H9 Corsair with stock muffler and see that there is now no room for the dummy radial engine plate in the muffler area...has anybody come up with an alternative muffler system that works ?
Also noted the report of the center section failing on someones H9 Corsair and wonder what area needs to be beefed up as a precaution ??

I had so much problem with the electric gear...two pair of broken acuators...for the guys who use the air what is your experience? Are the Robart air more reliable than the electric ?

thank you for the feed back of experience

I put a strong hard wood in the front section in order to reinforce. I reinforced also the back into the fuse. I will make a picture this weekend

Meh
It's different issues with air. Chasing air leaks and the extra support equipment are just a different bag of potential problems. I have big warbirds with problem free electric retracts and I have reliable air installations.

Thank you so much for your feed back. I have no experience with air retract but I guess that when we have troubles we can fixe them. With electric the situation is more complicated.... especially when the actuators do not work... i am completely disapointed with my experience..
what is the experience for other pilots with the air robart retract

100 flights and absolutely no issues with Robarts air retracts to this point. I never take the wing off and the system holds air pressure for weeks between flying sessions.

I am installing Robart Air Retracts on my Corsair for first time....only after asking all the more experienced pilots I knew flying Giant scale....most of them have had very little issues with air retracts and highly recommended them to me also......we'll see how my experience goes !

There is no reason to have issues with pneumatic retracts. Just make sure your connections are sound so you have no air leaks.

Thank you for the feed back. I think the main problem is also the weight of the wheels (Robart about 250gr). The electric acuators will have less effort with a lighter wheels.

I have the air retracts and the only issue I have had is the locking lever not releasing and allowing the gear to come down.
I did have to rebuild them after my engine quit, and did not have the problem before.
It never happened while the plane was upside down and I cycled the gear a hundred times while working on gear doors.
Turn the thing right side up and it locked up.
I talked to Robart to make sure all it did was lock the gear up and they confirmed it was only there to keep the gear up in case of pressure loss.
I have filed the hook off.

This is probably water under the bridge at this point as I think anybody interested in getting this aircraft probably has one flying already.
But in case any body else is thinking of installing a G-62, the stock muffler will fit with good sized hole for the exhaust in the cowl ,but also extends too far forward in the cowl for a nice dummy engine install.
I installed a J-Tec wrap around muffler ( designed for the H-9 and Top Flight Corsair ) this fits beautifully in all aspects although it is prolly a bit louder.

Also still wondering if anybody else out there has any issues to report with the center section failing ?????
The 2 rear install bolts go into a rather solid ply sandwich but where this plate attaches to the side of fuse seems suspect to me!
Are the two front locator pins causing any problems as well ?
PLEASE ANYBODY....chime in !

I'm getting ready to start on my corsair and I am wondering the same. I'm planning on using hysol throughout the fuselage and firewall and the wing mounting plates. I read on another site or maybe it was here that there was a recommended mod removing the fiberglass behind the wing mounting pins and adding extra plywood and glue. I'll have to research and think about it some more if we don't get any advice. I'm thinking adding ply, maybe carbonfiber, and some hysol. I just purchased my hysol gun and glue so now i'm on a kick to use it. I just repaired my P-51 exhaust shroud so now I'm looking for any squeaky thing I can find until i start my build.

Spit66...Thanks for chiming in !....I reinforced the rear inside of the firewall with 3/8 ply and then lined both insides of the forward fuse area about 6 inches up to the fire wall with 4mm Marine grade ply and then put in triangular gussets wherever I could on the inside to connect all these pieces.
The forward fuse fiberglass part doesn't seem to glued very well to the box construction which protrudes from the fuse...so I'll probably add gussets to the top and bottom of the engine box on the outside as I have already done on the sides.
There is a pic on this thread where the engine just ripped out of the front of the plane ! I am using a G-62 for now and am sure the mods I am doing will be Ok.
Good point on checking the locator pins in the forward wing......not sure of the best way to get in there, will have to take a peak inside tomorrow to see what can be done.
I will try to post a few pics tomorrow of what I've done so far.

Because of the carburator of the saito. It comes inside and there is not enough space for the big original Dubro. I switched for two 12 oz

Reinforcement of the back wing fixation
