Nice color scheme, but I am surprised that the bottom is a white or dirty white instead of light gray or light sky blue.

It's coming Casey! Can't say exactly when but it is near the top of my priority list. Unfortunately it seems I have to work on everybody else's priority list first in order to pay the bills! I would be more than happy to have you on board to build a prototype as soon as the design work is finished.

Thanks, Chad, that is interesting. I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to camouflage schemes, especially Navy. I learned something, which tells me that I now have an additional color that is acceptable for aircraft bottoms on some Naval aircraft.

My pleasure GG. Of course you know that in service the color probably dirtied up and weathered quite rapidly and so your assumption of gray would probably be more accurate in most cases! Also, aircraft with vertically folding wings such as the Corsair and Helldiver had the underside of the outboard wings painted in intermediate blue as the white proved to be too conspicuous with the wings folded on the carrier deck. See the Helldiver below for an example.

I would be honored to do so Chad! I have the new Hanger 9 Corsair showing up some time early next month, but with the rising cost of shipping, it's doubtful that I'll get any more ARF planes sent to Hawaii. I already had decided to go back to my love of building anyways, so no loss. The Hellcat is actually my wife's favorite WW II fighter, but I'm rather fond of it myself. Lol
Let me know if u would require any funds up front to help with those bills!

Casey,
The Hellcat tail hook operates in an entirely different manner and is not part of the tail wheel unit like it is on a Corsair. I do have a design for a Corsair tail gear which I did as part of the 1/6 Corsair group build. It is entirely based upon the Earl Aune design with a few changes for scale appearance and whatnot. It would scale up relatively easily I think and, in fact, I have a few more improvements in mind for it. Is there an issue with the one supplied by Hangar 9? Shoot me an email if you want more details and we can discuss the Hellcat project as well.

I probably hold a record here. About two weeks ago the radio in my ESM Hellcat just stopped. I had taken off, gear up, turned to down wind. The throttle was still full because it takes a while for the plane to accelerate with the G-38. It continued to east in a gradual climb. Finally while it was barely in sight, the right wing dropped and it started turning right, nose dropped and it finally spiraled in wide open at about 70 degree angle. Probably doing over 100 mph. Plane still not found. .
About 2006, lost my H9 Hellcat when a wing separated. Some one failed to reinforce the spar after installing CJ air retracts. Since I still had the retracts, engine and servos, I replaced the Hellcat. Another H9. I built flaps. It flew good, but had engine problems, engine quit, tried to land down wind in 15 mph wind, bounced and stalled. Destroyed the fuselage. Found a replacement fuselage on e-bay, used wings and tail surfaces again, installed a DLE 20. A little less weight and more power. Flew great. With this one, while I was being an idiot and flying too low, hit a high wire. Totalled.
That is four Hellcats I've destroyed. ONE MORE AND I'LL BE A JAPANESE ACE.

Hay RBean,
That's funny...and its sad that you lost another one. I've lost a few myself...at least one half or more of my losses, due to...loss of mental awareness...of what the !#$% I was doing.
I'm building a big gas twin right now and my F6F is still flying.
Soft Landings always,
Bobby of Maui

Thanks Brian, any suggestions for a pair of solid 95d - 100d rotate retracts for my H9 ? i've installed the 615 Robart Air - to air units , but they warp in any light-heavy landing...

I don't have any suggestions for the retracts. I am still using the ones that came with the plane. I have a set of 100d rotating Sierra's in my 60 size TF Corsair ARF. I have never compared them with the Hellcat mounting area but the Sierra's are top mounted and struts are probably not the right length.
There is a thread here somewhere about disappointing results for other 95d -100d rotating retracts.
