guys I have a little problem with my corsair. I have the wings sheeted and dowel pins in but when I put the wing in the wing saddle as far as the wing seating to the wing saddle doesn't look quite rite. Kindof like the fuse or wing are warped. Now visualy the wing and tailfeathers look quare from the front and back. Now I haven't put my incident guage on just yet. Should I build up the saddle and sheeting to the wing sand flush to wing then pu my quage on and check incedent then sand down accordingly. Or just dance on it and be very upset

I don't think you need to dance on it unless you have (sheral burke) from dancing with the stars to help

I will try to explain how I do mine

Anyway to be able to help we need to know some things, like how square is the maine ply box when looking thru the bird forwd to aft, and how stright is the fuse front to back, and did you put any incidance in the horzintal stab?? So we will make some assumption's, The box is square at least at the wing saddle, and you can use the lower surface line of th long main fuse rail on both sides as a data line.

now with the bird on its back

By what ever means you have level the fuse from sids to side, and from end to end using the above mentioned line, best way is to mark 4 spots 2 on eather side as far apart as posable, with the fuse levelcheck the horzontal stab at the hinge line to see if it matxhes the fuse, mark a spot at each tip and measure to the bench they should be the same. hear we will assume all is well, so on to next step.

Use at least a 36 inch long piece of stright material (I have a pice of 3/16 x1/2 steel bar with a true edge) position and center across the fuse at the # 4 blkd with a spot marked on the ends, measure to the bench JUST at the crose bar point trim sand till the bar matches,
paint or tape this spot.

Now hear is ware it can get tricky you may have to elonggate one or both of the 5/16 wing dowel pin holes as you sand/cut in the shape of the wing, DO NOT go past your painted or mask points.

while doing this you need to have an indance meter to check to make sure you keep the wing per plan or up to 1 deg of positive.

Hope this helps ang good luck pic's would be good to help and queations as you go .

well with a lot of sanding and some tweeking I think I got some of it straiten out I'm at about 2 degrees positive on the wing Im at 0 degrees for the tailfeathers and the box looks square to me that is I think I can sand a little more of the right side and get it down to about 1.5 degrees positive on the wing. I will have to deepen the wing anchor block area a little to make it all fit snug. thanks for the help and I hope that I get everything squared and looking good. I'll keep working at it before I apply any more glue to things

If you have 2 deg's positive incidence in the wing that will work but then you need 1 1/2 deg's in the horzontal stab, but it sounds like you have things sorted out

Well the tailfeathers are already epoxied in so they will be what they are I'll have to use the tailfeathers as my starting point. I had to remove them once and cutting the epoxy was a b****h but I used a ucontrol wire as a cuttin tool and I worked out just fine but I don't plan on doing this again that is why I will leave the tailfeathers the way they are. And have the incedence and thrust of the engine dictated by the tailfeathers. So far everything is starting to shape up but time will tell.

YIPPEE!!!!

Well she has flown!!! This is sweet flying plane. Takeoff was smooth and striaght. Climb out was shallow, but not because of lack of power. The ZDZ-80 was singing a beautiful song, swinging a 26x10 prop. Low passes were amazingly sweat. It tracks as good as my Mustang. Speed was scale.

Landing was made with power on. (about 1/4throttle) Did not cut the throttle until the wheels touched the ground. She slows down very quickly. Rollout was striaght and smooth too.

The grin was from EAR TO EAR!!

Sweet Kelly Glad to hear it. Man she looks great, can't wait to see it at Fayetteville. I maidened the Byron Yesterday and it went about like yours did, she flew great as well. Look forward to flying mine with yours at a flyin soon, But me thinks you will have to throttle back just a bit so I can keep up. Take care and see ya soon, Kevin.

T-Bolt,

Look to the side of your video. You will see two possibilities. URL and Embedded. Click in the space to the right of URL and click on it. then right mouse click and copy. Then go to the forum post and click right mouse and paste.
