The ESM 85" Corsair with a full fibreglass fuselage (and a better color scheme) at $669.00 US is even more tempting.

Well I watched the video of the TF Corsair and I must admit I saw a few things that just might make me think twice about this one. The filler block that sets between the horizontal stab and the bottom of the rudder is a pretty poor fit. The fit of the wing panel to the center section along the leading edge was not too good. The oil cooler and carb intake inlets on the front of the wing leave a lot to be desired and the fit of the trim piece around wheel opening wasnt too good either. A lot of eye sores for the money, sure doesn't measure up to the Tar Heel P47 from a couple of years ago. The wear on the tires indicate this one has seen some air time but I dont think that has any bearing on the over all appearance. Very disapponting but Im sure a few will take her and make it into a show piece.

I had exactly the same failure. It did a lot less damage than yours to the airframe. After 3 months waiting on retract parts mine is back in the air. The first rotator links that broke had inferior welds. The replacement pieces look much better. We'll see!

The giant TF Corsair ARF calls for a 50-50cc gas engine. I have a new O.S. 300 5 cylinder engine that I want to use on this plane. In terms of power, I read that the O.S. engine is equivalent to a 45cc gas engine. Anyone know if this is adequate power for the Corsair? Also, can comeone give me the dimensions of the firewall on the giant Corsair? THanks

Thanks for the info Bob. I don't have any experience with multi cylinder engine but do you think the O.S. FR5 (5 cylinder 50cc) engine is capable of pulling the TF Corsair? BTW, the engine weight 5.8lbs which is a bit heavier than the average 50cc gas engine which only weighs 3 lbs. It can swing a 22x8 prop but based on what I've read online, people are saying it produces the equivalent power of a 45cc gas engine. Do you think this is enough power to fly the TF Corsair? Thanks

I don't know enough about that engins to give you a good ansure, so I would look it up and see if who ever is selling and and ask a lot of questins ie: RPM range, prop size and dia, treust data etc.

Also go the the GAS ENGINE forum and ask questionsthere lots of good info , but you have to pick and chuse.

Hope this helps

I have been looking at that engine myself. I love the sound and the power and weight look like it should work.
The only thing I don't like is that it uses glow fuel.

I'm not sure if the overall dimensions fit within the confines of the TFGS Corsair cowl.

The TFGS Corsair is most commonly powered by the inexpensive (and heavy!) Zenoah G62 and they still have to add nose weight to get the CG right. The G62 runs a 22x8 prop nicely. I have been impressed with how well they handle.
Your OS FR5 looks like it turns a similar prop within the same range so I'd expect that IF it fits in the cowl you may have a winner!

I've been flying that combo for about 4 yrs off & on. Cowl has to be split & enlarged a little to clear the rocker boxes. Power is unbelievable for this size airframe. I'm at 34 lbs dry and it more power than needed.

Here is a link to my Youtube video in flight.

Ply68, the O.S. 300 5 cylinder radial produces approximately 4hp. This is just my oppinion, I predictIt will have the powertofly the Corsair Ok,how well it flieswill mainly depend on how heavy the plane weighs in at. A fellow flyer at the field has the giant ESM Corsair, same WS as the TF. The ESM weighs in at just under 29lbs. He has an Evolution 77cc 7 cylinder glowradialinstalled, itproduces approximately 4.8hp,it flies the ESMCorsairwell.

I am missing a part of the plans where it shows the main wing spar. It was cut out from the plans I imagine by the previous owner so he could make a template. But he did not include it with the kit when I bought it from him. Anyone out there have this can it be scanned etc?

That is so strange! as I'm having the exact and I mean exact same problem! This is so weird. I can't figure out why the idiot cut up that part of the plans but the six pieces of ply that you glue together to make up that main center spar are untouched by human hands.
My solution was to order a set of wing plans from Top-flight for 26 bucks or so + what ever the shipping is going to be. Wish I could help you but I don't know how. Any ideas?
This same idiot cut the building tabs off from all the wing tip panel ribs but didn't assemble any of it. I'm guessing he either can't read or won't.
Oh and by the way I didn't get an instruction book either. I did however download all 64 pages of it from TF's web site.
Some people will go out and buy whatever they think they want and then they either can't or won't take the time to build it!
Oh well I guess this keeps people like me in business!
