I spent the last hour looking for a 3-blade, 5.5 inch spinner. I have seen several P-40's so equipped. Does anyone know who retails them? Thanks in advance.

Look through this thread, it seems to me that someone posted that they use a 3 Blade prop and found a Carbon Fiber Spinner and had it cut for 3 Blade; plenty of P-51 Spinners but P-40 may be hard to find; Yellow Aircraft lists a 3 Blade P-40 Spinner for their Plane, doesn't list the size http://www.yellowaircraft.com/props/p40.htm

Yeah a 3B spinner would be perfect to finish this plane with....I wouldn't have a clue who has one[&:] You fellas with this kit who have not fitted the wing yet, before you glue in the leading edge wing pins trial fit the wing into the wing saddle to be sure it will fit. My wing would not fit the wing saddle. I had to shave off 1/16 from the leading edge and 1/16 from the trailing edge so that the wing would just sit inside the saddle, and I still have to move the wing hold down bolt holes 1/16 forward to line up with the nuts. I believe I may have gotten an odd fuselage...I usually get the odd stuff, Im a magnet for it. Anyway, its all fixed with the wing fitting into the saddle nicely

All I found was a carbon fiber 5.5 inch that didn't have the slots cut yet. Between that, and $90 propellors, I may just stick with a 2-blade.

I have the muffler and engine, the gear is coming from the evil empire, and the kit is coming from the LHS. Should start about the 1st of the year. Already have the .60 size, and although a bit underpowered, if flies and looks good. Am very inclined to mark this one up as Army property!

If you want a 3 blade spinner you might try contacting Dave Brown products. I think they make a 5.5" spinner and should be able to do it in 3 blade.

Dave Brown has large spinners. They're Vortec brand. I've got one on my 60 size P40. Got him to cut it for a 3 blade.

(Needless to say, mine isn't the size you need, but he lists the size mentioned above.)

The STANDARD spinner really has the shape of the OEM spinner that came with my TF P40. The STANDARD is what I got and it looks just like the OEM except it's got 3 holes and isn't painted red.

I would expect they have a "special" P51 spinner shape because they believe the shape is unique. The P40 spinner shape (pointed) really shows up on just about everything else.

Chris923

Their website only shows a "custom made" spinner and it turns out to be the parabolic (rounded nose) P51 style. Where do you find the P-40, pointed Zinger ones?

For three and four blade spinners, you usually have to go to the manufacturer to have them cut them for you...or order a blank and cut it yourself. Tru-turn is the best spinner I know of, but they can be pricy. They work with you.

Already spoken with TruTurn...they dont have it. Hey Lifer The Dave Brown looks pretty close so I will call them today and find out how well the measurements match with the stock spinner...Diameter and length. I will post what they say with comparison measurement and we can decide from that what to do....Hmmmmmmmm Tru Turn is the best but if Dave Brown will fit the appearance we will take it Thanks for da lead da Rock

I never even fitted the bolts that came with the kit. I've use the black DuBro 1/4-20 nylon bolts as you can use an allen wrench and not worry about a screwdriver slipping. They are also long enough for about any application.

To all of you doing the spinner research my gratitude and respect! I'm so used to everything on RCU turning into a pissing contest, that I had forgotten what it is like to be in the company of others that love model planes as much as I do. Thank you......

I made my own red 3-blade spinner by painting a Hobby King 5,5" carbonspinner.

Works well and looks better than 2-bladed

How do you cut the prop slots in a carbon fiber spinner?

Homemade template, a sharp cutter to mark the line and then a good Dremel tool and a little patience.

When the slots are finished I do use thin CA and Q.tip to seal the carbon and sands off with fine sandpaper

My setup isa RCGF 55 and Xoar 20x10 3-bladed. I think I do have around 5500 rpm on ground static. More than enough power and I have a silversoldered Tony Clark DIY silencer. The videoflight is not good and the engine are leaned out now and sounds much better.

I will try a 21x10 to even lower the noise, but the engine will be run a little hotter so good cooling is important

A normal/good 50cc engine is plenty of pull in this model!
