Don, I believe this is what you are looking for.

If you read the fine print, it states that a laser cut parts kit is available. No mention of how much it will cost. If you get the plans I'm sure your favorite kit cutter can provide the laser cut parts.

Thanks John

I had no idea the Seawind RC was out of Laddie Mikulasko's stable of designs. I will be ordering these plans tomorrow.

I didn't get a Seawind ARF when they came out (bought the retracts, though) and finding one NIB is getting harder every day.

I guess I was lucky. I found a NIB Seawind after I posted my distress story about crashing mine. I'm in the process of relocating the elevator and rudder servos to mounts in the cockpit area and have modified the tip floats to eliminate the round edge on the float bottom. The entire fuselage and the wing tips have been sanded and repainted. I got rid of the original color scheme in favor of one I found on Airliners.net (N55SW). I also found a great deal on a NIB Saito 91. Spring can't come to soon!

Is there a construction article that supplements the plans available anywhere?

Bob93447:

Are you looking for the Great Planes 60 size ARF. I have one new in the box. It has some cosmetic damage, and I won't ship it, but you are close enough that we could meet somewhere.

I'm interested. What cosmetic damage? I'll be in LA in January so possibly we can meet.

I would be pleased to meet with you in January. The damage is limited to non-structural cracks in the gel coat, and a new section of covering on one wing.

I am needing a spar for this bird. Can someone make a drawing with measurements so I can reproduce it.

Jerry, I responded to a similar request some time ago. The dimensions you are looking for are in that post. I know what a pain it is to search through a thread to find information so let me know if you can't find it and I'll measure up mine for you. If need be I'll trace my spar and mail it to you.

Jerry, I found the post that talks about the spar dimensions. Look at post number 1280. The only change is the material. It's aluminum, not steel. The offer for a tracing of my spar still stands.

I will try to use the info on the post and see if I can find some carbon fiber to build it out of. Thanks for the help.

Has anyone ever tried to take the weight out of the nose of the Seawind? It looks like the grey mass which is in the nose might be as heavy as 1 pound. For those of us who are flying electric could stuff enough batteries in that space offset the loss of the "non-working ballast".

I second that request. I appears that the weight is steel shot or bearing balls mixed with epoxy, so a drill bit has a hard time with it. Any one have any ideas?

You can try a soldering gun with a flat tip. Be careful not to melt the nose.

A gun won't reach, but I will try a soldering iron. Good idea, thanks.

Just wanted to ask did you end up doing the modification to move the servos? I built one and did this and now I'm not so sure it was worth the effort. Just curious about your results.

Matt, the relocation of the elevator and rudder servos has worked out just fine. I used flex cable in a housing and made sure the housing was secured at frequent intervals. If the housing is left unsupported you'll lose a lot of control surface deflection. You didn't ask but the mod to the tip floats worked like a charm. I don't know what the designer was thinking about the tip float design. You NEVER put a round edge on a surface that contacts the water. The water will pull the rounded surface down and you end up with dragging tips and water loops. My concave under surface on the tip floats skips off the water without a hint of catching and pulling the wing down.

I have not flown it yet but I moved the servos too.

Were you able to get the spinner to for the cowl? It looked terrible so I fixed it but I can't believe it was so far off in the instructions.

I like the tip floats. Can you post pictures

Has anyone come up with a canopy hatch latch that works well for the Seawind? I'd really like to find something better than a wood screw.

Default Seawind Tip Floats and Cockpit hatch latch

Attached are a few photos of my Seawind tip float mod that corrects the poor design on the original tips. I have also included a photo of the canopy latch that I incorporated to correct a poor design for the canopy hold down.

That sucks.

Hit the "Go Advanced" button on the reply window, then look for "Manage attachments". You will need to select then upload each image

Another try to get you guys a look at my tip float mod that works like a charm. Note that the tip floats are not extended beyond the stock depth but simply a build up around the perimeter of the tip float. I used a mixture of micro balloons and finishing resin (Z Poxy) to make a paste to build the edge.

This is my canopy hatch latch replacing the screw suggested in the assembly instructions. The latch comes from DreamWorks Model Products, stock number DW-HL.
