RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

The Realflight physics get pretty close. The biggest difference I notice is that the AT6 "feels" faster than on the simulator. Cross winds will cause a slight roll tendency on take-off. Better to...

RE: Warbirds over Arkansas June 9-12 2011

Lyle and John, thanks for sharing the pictures. It was a great weekend in the beautiful Ozarks. I hope to go back next year.

RE: Western Front Dawn Patrol 2010

In case we need more firepower to compliment the Missourian shotguns, I plan on bringing two Spandau machine guns. What are the chances of finding a spot to pitch a tent for someone arriving on...

RE: BUSA Fokker D.VII 1/4th scale servos?

My D7 may be at a similar stage of construction to yours. I am starting to add detail to the fuselage and need to think about servos and servo placement. I will use a hitec 2.4 Rx with a 2S Hobbico...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

TomTreese,
Thanks for posting the pictures of your landing approach. You seem to use a lower flap rate than I do. How many degrees do you use? My flaps are on a 3-way switch. I use a 45 degree flap...

RE: RCG 26cc

Update:
I checked the rpm again using an APC 17x8 Pattern prop. After close to 2 gallons of fuel, it now turns at 7620 rpm (up from 7280 previously), using Echo synthetic oil at 40:1 in 87 octane...

RE: RCG 26cc

JXF 17x8 prop failure!
Watch out for JXF props from Hobbyking. The prop split lengthwise on one side for no apparent reason. The prop had not been damaged previously in any way that was visible....

RE: RCG 26cc

Update:
My RCG 26 now has a little over a gallon through it. Most of that in the air. After the first few flights it ran rough and dead-sticked on me a couple of times. I traced the problem to an...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

Maddieone makes a good point, you're gonna either love or hate this airplane. The AT6 takes some getting used to. It has its quirks. On the other hand, if you want something that has oodles of...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

Ken,

I have similar experiences as Tom in trying to eliminate bounces on landing. I think the key is that the aircraft should gently fly onto the ground, AND the tail must have ample airflow...

RE: RCG 26cc

Fullrudder, thanks for sharing the link to your review. Interestingly, your engine was packaged in a box with the "Viktor-fly" brand name on it. The same name was on the instructions. My engine was...

RE: RCG 26cc

GGraham500,

I don't think there is a gas engine that will perform the same as an equivalent sized glow engine, especially at the lower end of the size scale where glow engines are common and...

RE: RCG 26cc

Here are my impressions after the first day at the field, which included some static running of the engine, some taxiing, and about 45 minutes in the air, flying an Ultra Stick Lite 120.

The...

RCG 26cc

I recently bought the RCG 26cc engine from Hobbyking (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9615&Product_Name=RCG_26cc_Gas_engine_w/_CD-Ignition_2.6HP/1.95kw). Since...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

Report back on performance of TF's replacement retracts:

The new retracts sent to me (after I had problems with the original gear casings cracking) are holding up. 10-15 landings; including some...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

Sonny,

Thanks for the picks of the retract valves. I might still opt for air retracts too. Even if the new servo-operated set from TF looks more robust, a set of Robarts will probably be the...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

The number to call if you have experienced a similar retract problem is (217)398-0007. It takes you through a menu where you should choose the option for questions related to airplanes. Unfortunately...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

I agree that TF should not be judged on one plane. And actually the plane itself is pretty good in my opinion. Mine had almost perfect covering and I really like the way it looks and flies. The thing...

RE: Top Flite AT6 ARF

Carl,

On my plane the plastic railing of the retract housing cracked and the crack spread into the housing itself, causing the locking mechanism to fail and the retract to collapse. The wood...

RE: G26ei or G26 magneto

Wingstrut,

I have been flying a G26 in a BUSA Pup for the last 3 years. It is a great combo and the engine just keeps getting stronger with absolutely no tendency to flame out or misbehave....

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%

I'm using 80 pound dacron fishing line with the stock servo arms on the rudder. I find that the fishing line is easier to adjust to the optimal tension compared to the stock cable. The line goes...
