Yea, Bob is the guy. ;) Gear drive is better on the Astro's since Astro makes a gear reduction that bolts directly to the motor can. Send me an e-mail. I may have the gear reductions you can use.

My "professional" opinion is forget the gas. I had in one of my Donzi's 2 OS FS 61 water cooled marine engines. The plumbing for exhaust was a hassle, high temps and trying to electronically synch...

I am in pretty good contact with Dumas. All the majority of the fiberglass huls will now be made in ABS. Darby, Donzi etc. The are staggering the release of the boats.

1 12v battery is plenty to...

Buy the one you have the most interest in. Then it will keep your attention. Each of the boats will suck up alot of time if you want them real nice.

You are correct! That would be a great upgrade. It would greatly improve your run times.

The next step would be to get a little bit "hotter" motor. But then you RISK BURNING OUT...
