RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

Rapptor,

Ground AoA is not at all critical. But, level attitude should be your goal. If you can tell the nose is low sitting on the runway, then adjust it to level with shims under the nose gear...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

The engine thrust info you need is already in this thread.
Go to page 2 post 38. The pictures and text tell you what to do. You will need to modify the supplied mounting rails. With a 22 pound...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

Start with no flap to ELE mix and test fly. Adjust as you see fit. It's better to minimize additional control mixing that may confuse your flight test evaluations.

I do not use any FLAP to ELE...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

Put a straight edge along the LE and mark where the straight edge meets the fuselage sides ignoring the intake. That imaginary point is the start point from where the CG is measured.

A designer...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

Most Turb buyers will quickly realize how versitile this model is.
It may be tempting to over think the setup and configuration, and spend too much time and money with precise control throws and...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

The fix uses molded servo angle mount material available from Tamjets, Dreamworks, or BVM.

The mounts are cut down and re-drilled to accept the stab attach bolt. Since the bolt mounting tabs on...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

You can buy retracts designed for the Turbinator from Shulman Aviation. Or fit your own like I did. They are not included in the kit. You can also buy the fuel tank designed for it from it also is...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

The air connections can be seen in post 54 on page 3. there is plenty of room to group servo and air connections between the wing and wing saddle area of the fus.

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

Thanks fellas.
Randy's hat was stylin'. I probably should get one. Scott had one too.

Scott didn't get a chance to fly the Turb yet. He was busy flying some low dollar F-86 thing. Something...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

Finally after work delays and family events, followed by a 2 day visit to KY Jets, I got the first flights done at Bowling Green KY.

What a hoot this jet is! I set the throws and CG exactly as...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

As is often the case, slight modification is necessary when not using equipment intended for the ARF. Since I'm using 3" wheels, my nose strut needs to be slightly longer. So I modified the bulkhead...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

The build progresses, but since life isn't only about jets, things don't progress as fast as we may like.

I decided to use Pro-Link struts with my 630 series Robart gear. I simply ordered the...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

This airplane has so much space there are almost too many choices. I wanted a functional and fairly neat install but without a lot of bling.

Over the years I have found access to all components...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

I was able to put in some shop time today.

I usually take 6 weeks or so to do an ARF, but I'm trying to do this one in 3 weeks.

Photo 2 shows where I added the wedges to the engine mounting...

Even though I don't have your pickin' talent, we think alike! I also purchased the Reaction struts. I know the mains will work, but I may need to lower the nose gear mount to get enough...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

Looks like about the same thrust line as found on Reactions, KingCats, Bobcats, ShockJets, Falcons, etc. Must have something to do with the higher thrust of a K80 size engine on this frame, and the...

RE: Shulman Aviation Turbinator ARF

I'm figuring it will weigh around 20-23 lbs. There is so much wing area that it really won't matter. I won't even weigh it when I'm done because I don't care. Watch David S. fly his and you'll see...
