RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

I crashed my mig too and put a big crack right at the base of the wing. I drilled a long hole perpindicular to the break and glued the wing back and slid a carbon fiber rod into the hole, the wing...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

I am glad to see al the activity on the thread. I have really enjoyed reading all the posts, very interesting. I still have my Mig and would consider putting a nose on it and trying it again after I...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

John, Thanks for your offer, I am not sure what I am going to do with this project as of now. The only bad damage is to the nose section, I may try to find a nose to graft on, the rest f the plane is...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

Got it into the air finally. just prior to pull up, it made and unbelievebly sharp right 90 deg turn, lifted off the ground, went to approx 40 feet altitude, stalled, pitched almost straight up, then...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

Added some weight to the tail for a better C/G, I have about 1 1/4 inch throw in each direction measured at the front of the stab. being my pivot point is so far foreward, I have a lot of throw when...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

I was going to put the pivot at about half the chord length but followed advice to figure the Mean Aerodynamic chord. I calculated it using 2 methods both came out to within 1/8 inch of each other so...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

I have rudder and I made it bigger than scale, but evidently its not big enough, it had almost no effect to counteract the cross wind. I probably should have instead of just increasing the chord...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

Tried for a first flight but didnt get off the ground, aborted the takeoff, my fault.

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

Thanks for the heads up on the flaps, I agree they could cause turbulence that might affect the stabs. I just had to include them, if they dont work out, I can couple them to the ailerons. I will...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

I am posting these pics so they might be helpful for anyone else tinkering with one of these MIGS.

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

Have made a lot of progress on the MIG, will have pics to follow soon, I am liking this more and more, I keep wanting to add details, like a bombay door to drop candy, powder filled plastic...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

Another thought on the flying horizontal stabilizer subject, How much movement is needed? I wont be doing any 3D or radical flying, but want it controllable, yet responsive. I was thinking about a...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

meps, did you box in the intakes when you cut them out? I plan on adding as much detail as possible. I like this thing more and more. I hope you have pics of the retracts, I decided against them this...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

After spending some time looking at some pics of full scale MIG-27s, I am toying with the idea of making full flying horizontal stabs. Has anyone done this? and could you post or send me some pics on...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

I have a super tiger 90 in it, swinging a 12 inch prop. I hope I can get some speed out of it, but its not a big issue. The flaps are more for fun slow, nose high pitch landings typical of landing...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone

I had a hard time deciding how I was going to do the nose gear. I looked thru all the threads I could find on here but it seemed no one had detailed pictures of how they did the nose wheel. I took...

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone
