are you going to race it? or bash it? If racing, how long is your straight stretch? I use a hitec hs65mg servo and seems to be one tough servo. I would recommend lipo batteries if you can afford it. And a good lipo charger like this one, http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCTZ5&P=0, this charger can charge your tx while charging your car pack if needed. And about 1/2 the price of most lipo chargers out there.

i also have a rc18t ft kit and i picked a tekin 6.8k with 2 and 3 cell lipo packs. i use a dynamite vision peak ultra for a charger and it works great. i bought one of the $25 digital servos from b-p-p(also where i got my lipos) and its top notch, no issues at all. overall i am satisfied with the speed of the tekin 6.8, which is the equivalent of a mamba 6800, but i wish i had a little more for bashing and when i take it to the track i think it is a little much. even on a 1/8 scale offroad track i cant top it out and its really hard to find traction.

LiPo's are great, but precautions need to be taken. Here is what can happen if you are not careful: http://www.helihobby.com/videos/LithiumBattery.wmv

A decent size pot would work well, with a lid. I hope I didn't scare you, as that was not my intention. I just wanted to make you aware of the possibility (What could happen) if you do not use caution around LiPo's.
You really don't need the whole container thing - just keep an eye on them when they charge. Every couple minutes, put a finger on them to check their temperature.

all the talk about lipo's catching on fire is BS if you follow directions. Charge them at 1x their cell capacity and you will be fine. I have crashed, heated, over-drawn, and mischarged them. No fires to date
.. Just follow the simple destructions

Do not overdrain the LiPo's, and like Mugen said, charge them at 1x their capacity (2500mah=2.5a charge rate) on a Lipo charger. They will serve you well.

Well, how would you charge one of those 8000mah lipos, do you charge it at 8.0 amps? I don't even think there is a charger that can charge that high.

good question man. I was wondering the same thing. My vision ultra goes up to 2.5 for lipo and my mk11 up to 2.0. I guess I haven't needed to go higher yet. I am currently working on making one of my mugen mbx5's brushless and one of my mbx5 truggies brushless too. I will need some of those packs soon and a way to charge them. I will have to do some research. I can't wait to have one of these rockets operational[8D]

Obviously, you can charge them at rates lower than 1C, just not higher. 1C is the Upper limit. There is no lower limit. It won't explode from charging at too low an amperage.
I did notice in one of the RC Driver magazines that there was an ad for the 2S 7.4v 4800mah Lipo (The silver one - Orion maybe?) that came with or could come with a Scorpion 2S charger. In the ad, it said "be back on the track in 20 minutes"
Correct me if I am wrong, but charging a 4800 mah battery at 1c (4.8 amps) should take 1 hour to charge, right?
That would mean that they are charging that battery at 3C!!!! Hmmmmmmm.

My passion has switched to the minis. Making my 18MT do 60mph has proved interesting and challenging and has resulted in many broken parts. I feel the need to help the noob (or novice).
It is nice to be missed, though, thank you.
Sorry for the hijack.
