is that all?? we got around a foot. ya they are water proof but i don't know about ground clearance. it might get stuck.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

They are stated aswaterproof, but from my experience, not really 100%. I would never submerge it, but I think snow is fine, or splashing around.

If you want to, go for it, and it will probably be fine. I would spray some WD40 on it before and after the run, and after the run I would also let it dry very well inside. I would also open up the receiver box to make sure no water got in there.

I've gotten water in my box a couple times, which messed up my radios, but after drying it with a hair dryer it works again.

Oh, and if its 7 inches and fluffy, goodluck moving!!! I had a hard time moving in 4 inches of fluffy snow. No ground clearance.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

thanks! where should i spray the wd-40? im going to try all the things you guys said to check for the steering issue, i doubt i will be able to see if anything works because of the snow.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

The manual covers where you should spray it after running in water. Mainly aim for the various bearings !

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

I spray the entire car. Lubricates, and displaces any water and moisture, so I spray my electronic stuff too.

Not sure if there are negatives to spraying everything, but it hasnt let me down yet. I do get more grime buildup though

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

The tires are all glued perfect,
I spun the gears and all axels turned

Doing that i noticed there was a clicking sound from the rear, took off the rear drive shaft (think thats what its called) and it was gone (Thats how i know its the rear arggg) prolly the diff? I only really hear it when im going slow :(

I looks like the front receiver side wheel is toe out, the front passenger side is factory 1 degree negative camber. which makes sense with it pulling to the left. Ill see if i can snap a few shots later. So how can i fix the alignment issue? get adjustable turn buckles and push rods?
brianjskora 02-10-2010 04:05 PM

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

Clicking sounds like the dif, but it shouldnt make the car pull left or right. When my diff was shot, it would only really click while i was driving it, but if i just turned the wheels myself it would not click.

Sounds like your wheels are causing the issue. I would highly recommend adjustable rods for fine tuning. the plastic ones will stretch and warp, causing your trim on the transmitter to be your only tuning.

I guess ill be ordering the adjustable bars soon, I dont think the diffis the cause of the problem i just wanted to point it out and figureout what i need to do to fix that also. I really want to get into thislittle guy so Im trying to get it set up perfect for the spring!

There are the tools to check it. On the stock setup, you can only adjust camber, but if you adjust it back into spec it should bring the toe on that side back into spec as well, unless you have a bent or broken suspension component in there somewhere. 1 degree negative camber in the front and back is factory. I wouldn't go buying links to adjust the toe until you figure out why its out to begin with, if you fix the camber and its still not right. Although if you just want to run a non-standard toe setting, the adjustable links are what you'll need.

Trust me when i say its the diff, my rear started that clicka week and ahalfago and i had to replace the gears ($12) because the back quit moving like 3 days ago. it will slowly get worse and start clicking louder and louder and then the rear will quit moving when any pressure is put on it.

When i get some more money, i am going to order another charger, 2 3s 1800mah lipos, 2 2s 2200mah lipos, a parallel adapter from hobbycity then im going to get some upgrades from the toys. The difficult part is getting more money, i hate college.

^ i know how you feel, being in school suckz. It is weird that the diff would give me problems with no more than 3 hours on it. I did beat it up real bad when i first got it. It just kept doing kart wheels lol. I have slowed down alot since then. I did take it out in the snow today, it was great. It would only really do a few inches but it was still fun! Thanks Z33 for links. I think im going to get those. It will make it very easy and precise. What brand turnbuckles and tie rods should i get? gpm, hr, traxxas?

Ya mine made that noise after a few runs also, like one battery pack a day for 4 days then it started making the noise. Try this place, http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...mp;action=list they have so many upgrades for the merv, the link is only for the merv. ya it doesn't stand much snow but it still is a blast, what batteries are you running, i would order from this place: http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_index.asp

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

^ two stock batteries in parallel, i will get lipos when i get it running tip top. I was looking at thetoyz before, i want to be sure i get the right stuff. I think the gpm full set looks good.
stainless or alum?

honda2237 02-10-2010 08:23 PM

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

i would do alum because it is lighter, won't rust either. I am running lipos right now and my car is completely stock, i got 2 2s 2200mah lipos, 3s 1500mah lipo, 1 charger and power supply for $105 shipped express.

Topplayer 02-10-2010 08:30 PM

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

wait what????? that is sooo cheap! i was holding back on the batteries because i thought it would be alot to up grade to it (getting the charger and all) your making me want to skip the tie & push rods lol.

honda2237 02-10-2010 09:06 PM

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

ya their that cheap, the batteries were like $10 each, and the charger was $30 and the power supply was $15. shipping is a little expensive but everything is still cheaper than what you would pay in stores.

honda- have you used this battery? I hadnt seen anyone using this one yet! This would be great at 40c

honda2237 02-10-2010 09:54 PM

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

i have heard that the 1800 were the same size as the 1500 i haven't used them yet though. 40c would mean more punch.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

Just a quick update on your tierods and buckles: I ordered the aluminum ones and they were great for adjusting camber, toe, etc. However; put the MERV through some abuse, and yours might end up broken and bent - see one of my posts about 10 or 12 pages back - i have photos to prove! I contacted the toyz, and explained what had happened... they were pretty cool about it and sent replacement ones (The steel ones) According to their claim, they are a bit tougher than the aluminum ones! Stainless won't rust either. i had also ordered the blue aluminum rods and buckles, and according to RJ, he's had a few of those break and bend such as mine did. He said it's only happened to the blues so far, so maybe just avoid getting the blue rods!

Also, a pointer i picked up from someone on the boards. when you install the tierods and turnbuckles, install them as is, don't make the adjustments yet. They should be right at the exact length and setting to bolt directly on with setting very similar to the stock plastics (length wise). Once installed look at your toe and camber. Make the adjustments one turn at a time on each piece (front first, then rear) this way you're even through the whole process. The rear shouldn't need much toe adjustments, if any at all. The front is a little different. give yourself slight toe-in, not too much, becuase these are 4WD, not 2WD. Too much toe will be counter productive! This ain't no Losi Mini T ya know :)

Just my .03$

Joe

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

honda-

Not saying that the ones you suggested do not fit ( I dont know ) but these may be the 1800s that are the same size and fit... http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6293

The others have no reviews from VXL owners, so I wouldnt want to be the first!

You can just search revo vxl on hobbycity, and all the batteries and some replacement motors are given on the search results.

Again, not trying to doubt your suggestion, just want anyone to be sure on the fitment before ordering from across seas since it can take a little while.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

^ ya that is the only one i have heard about, my bad. you are right, i don't know if the 40c will fit or not.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

1 Attachment(s)
So here are some finished results... i still have to get cvd's (still not sure whether to go with the 25 Integy ones or the 50 Traxxas ones) I also saw some steel swing shafts... maybe those will be better since they extend and compress like the stock plastic ones.

Also, i need to get my tan and black springs!

One Note, the top down photo is to show you what "toe" setting i have. Right now, they are slightly turned in... i do not beleive 4WD needs alot of toe-in, unless you run strictly round track, then i can see putting more on one side.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!

looks good, not a fan of the blue a-arms but that personal preference. I would do the alum swing shaft, they seem better.

What do you guys think of a metal wing for the back, + or -?
