Hmmmmm
Yeah, I think there is....
During highschool and college, I ran a motorcycle 'restoration' shop out of my parent's garage. I did everything from engine rebuilds to heavy detailing, to nut and bolt restorations. I did over 50 bikes during that time (including partial restores on 2Cushmans )
I don't ride anymore after laying down my last personal restoration project. I still have it though. It is a 71 CB350 cafe racer with hand rubbed black laquer frame and tank. all new chrome and a rebuilt engine. I laid it down when a clutch actuating rod seal let go and coated the rear tire in engine oil in a turn...
The other thing we have in common between the two is Walter (I think that was his first name) Kaaden. If my memory serves me right, that guy figured more out about two stroke tuning than any 10 other people combined..... Of course that was before my time (so correct me if I am wrong Lash)

Remember Al?
Matchlessaero--
Do you remember Al of Al's Cycle Shop on Summer Ave.? That may have been before your time.
My dad and I loaded up my Cushman and took it down to Memphis to Al's to trade it for a Honda. This was around 1964.
Al himself got on my Cushman and rode it down Summer Ave to check it out.. He came back mad as heck. I didn't tell him the rear brakes didn't work.
I think he offered $75 for it on trade. We loaded it back up and came home.

Used to own a Kawasaki 250 dirt bike, and a Honda 550-4 semi-chopper. Haven't owned a bike in a while now. Too many other things going on (two kids), plus was into two seater sports cars for a while (79 Mazda Rx-7, 91 Nissan 300zx TT, 85 Toyota Supra). Now a drive a 98 Blazer (station wagon, really) with leather and air, and keep the back seats down so I can haul my airplanes around. What the heck happened????? I rebel sometimes with some old Pink Floyd or Metallica, does that help?

(drooling over the new Nissan 350Z, though. Yea Babee!)

yeah, I remember Al's
Thats where I used to get my parts on all of the Hondas I worked on. For Kawasaki parts, I went to Leo's, and for Cushman parts I could only go mailorder....
Scary similarities here guys.....
As for sportscars, I too have one in the garage. A 73 Triumph TR6.
As for mountain bikes, I was a sponsored racer until 5 years ago. Had to quit as I was putting too many claims on my medical insurance.....

motorcycles
Hiya all,
I have loved 1/2a planes since i was a littlin, same for motorcycles, now i run a custom bike building shop for vintage japanese stuff, choppers, restorations, the whole bit. i found some motorcycle tools are very useful for modeling, and vice-versa, just remebering which shop area i left them is hard, i have about 30 bikes, with some comin and goin every day, but mainly i ride my 1975 honda gl100 goldwing, its so cool, it's got a kick starter!!

I think we all like to see and feel the engine running, and AJ I think your dad is doing you a favor, and has more than likely had first hand experience,I think that the favorite of mine was the 1977 XS1100 yamaha standard, heavy and power full, and the most dangerous was the H-1 Kaw. 500 triple two stroke with a set of Denco Chambers only did one thing good, wheelies and FAST, wont stop or turn, every time I road it I saw my life pass before my eyes, had to sell it. Hey Matchless love that old CB350 they are finly starting to get scarce, is that your 750 also? if you guys want to see something really rare go to e-bay under M/C's and BSA and there is a bsa A-10 650 pre-unit twin that is made into a factory looking twin engine 4 cyld. ( 2 engs. side by side) its now at $7,500, Hey Lynn that was what was called A Water Buffalo, SUZ. H20, very rare now, and Fred if what you mean by Exotic that the bike kicks you back so hard that, you refer to the first cold start as a Mo%4### F&8%$#, then He-- I got exotic up the Butt!!!

Right On!!
Wow, it's pretty wild to see how many of us have bikes!!
Mine is an '82 CB900F. I bought it from a junk yard a few years ago and rebuilt just about everything. It looks like new now, but I need to get out and ride it more!

Well I'm not into bikes but I love me some classic cars. I had a Pro-Street 69' Chevelle, 68' AMC Javelin and 2 different 67' Firebirds with the last one sporting the bad ***** 327 small block with factory fuel injection out of a mid 60' Vette .....SWEET I tell ya. Now I'm working on getting a small block into a 83' BMW 318i.

OK....there seems to be a pattern here, so here's my $0.05 worth....1960 MGA, 69 Fiat 850 (motor rebuilt from box of parts), 2 Jaguar XJS, Suzuki Quadsport (for Flat-track & TT racing) & a Honda XR350R for general self-abuse.
