Hello all! I bought one of these at E-FEST, and had a couple questions regarding set-up and performance. I'm hoping to use the plane as an aerobatic trainer mainly. On this web site[link]http://www.mscompositusa.com/unique---red-white-epp.html[/link], the recommended battery is smaller than what the instructions call for. Instructions say 1250 to 1500mah. Also I don't have any idea who makes EM 300-34 motor they recommend, or what would compare to it. I have a Rimfire 22M-1000 laying around. Is it comparable? Those are my two basic questions, but if anyone can comment on the durability or performance of this plane, I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance!

if the flying weight is 12 ounces the rimfire with a 9x3.5 or whatever is common with those would work fine for aerobatics. i'd probably shoot under a 1000 mah for weight with an 8 or 10 amp esc

Trevor,
My Blade Dancer was there but since I didn't have a Spektrum receiver for it I was only able to get one flight with the 72mHz. This airplane flys great with the E-flite 400 outrunner which is probably more power than necessary. I haven't tried the 370 yet. Also am using 11/3.8 prop indoors. All up weight with 1320 batt was 12.5 oz (incl landing gear).
I did cut a bit of the elevator away to allow additional rudder throw as it seemed a little weak in knife edge manuevers. It is great fun and has survived a couple un-intended landings with out a mark on it. Love that EPP when done right (cut not molded!)
I think this will make a great small field outdoor model when the weather is a bit warmer!
Oh, one thing about the epp, you can cut a knife slot in the foam then pushe the servo wires in and the foam heals over it so there are no visible wires! works really cool.

Thank you both for your replies! I do intend to use my Rimfire, and probably a 910 lipo to start with and see what happens. Jimnie, thats an awesome tip on the stashing of servo wires! So far I've only had Depron foamies, and they were/are all GP Flatouts. With all the negative posts I've read, and my own experience with them, I'm ready to try a different material. The flatouts are just too fragile for a 3D newbie such as myself IMHO. Probably won't put her together for a couple of weeks( Just got a foot of snow), but I'll try to remember to let ya know how it all works out. Thanks again!

EPP is really remarkable material if not a little heavy. have you thought about the yak55 at hobby lobby? You mentioned you had the flatout flat foamies... the yak 55 gets much better reviews

I believe I have seen the Yak at Hooby Lobby. Matybe I'll do a little research, and see about picking one up to try out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I've been playing with the HL Yak... good fun. Running a Rimfire 22m-1000, 8a controller, and a 1320 mha ThunderPower.
It flys good for me (newb) and the battery lasts forever.
A note on snow... it cushions the hits!

they've also just gone on sale today for 20 bucks...
I think i'll try one of these epp's next... looks like a real softball for ground hits

we just finished putting together a "unique"
Used an axi 2208/26, 9x3.8 prop, thunderbird 18 esc. Apogee 830 (3cell)
This is one sweet flyin little plane!
Flew it right behind my airfloilz edge and I really enjoyed them both[8D]
now if we could just get some warm weather[sm=drowning.gif]
