RE: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD Build and Fly
I glued the aileron control horns in place using epoxy, fits perfectly into their slots
so did the rudder control horn and the elevator horn.
then i cut the supplied air scoops, glued them to the sides of the motor box using CA
to improve cooling and airflow to the motor

( Width: 0.4" (11mm
Height: 0.8" (19.8mm)

The pull pull carbon fiber servo arm is supplied, and the other CF servo arms are extra, got them from PA.
I installed all the servo arms on the servos with small screws

RE: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD Build and Fly
I decided to use Dubro Mini E/Z Connector instead of using the
supplied z- bends. I enlarged the hole to 2mm, closer to the bottom so I will still have
some thread left for the screws.( Dubro has Lightweight aluminum E/Z connectors
I will change these when they arrive)

Got the ailerons servo installed. Connected the carbon fiber pushrod. Inserted
the z-bend to the horn, and the Mini E/Z Connector to the CF servo arm.

Cowl attachment
The marking identify the location of the mounting tab that I have drilled before, using 1 mm drill bit .after marking the cowl drilled it with 2mm drill bit, and screw in place.

RE: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD Build and Fly
Decided to use the E-spinner but I did not like it transparent, it doesn't fit the KMD
So I spry painted the inside of the spinner very carefully with black spry paint
And this is the result.

I have these speed controls at home, Extreme Flight air boss 35A and E-flight 40- Amp
What do you think, which one to choose?

RE: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD Build and Fly
Great thread.... ordered a MD as well and this will help a great deal...
While both are good controllers, the 35amp ESC is all that is needed for this power system... allowing you to use the 40 on another project :-)

RE: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD Build and Fly
Do you think that a Thrust 30 swinging a 12x6 prop will not overload the EF 35A ESC?
And if I change the prop to 13x6, 5 then what, will it overload?

Only real way to know is to put her on a watt-meter to be sure... Hate to give advice and then smoke your plane :-)

RE: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD Build and Fly
Thanks Bonefisher
I don't have a watt-meter but I will try to find some one who has the same combo
EF air boss 35A ESC and Thrust 30 and see if it works
I am sure that someone has this combo.
