i have an e-flite 250 outrunner and an e-flite 10amp brushless speed control and i can only get the motor to run for just a second before it stops and the battery is charged. Any suggestions?

Are you using a 2cell/7 cell NiCD or NiMH battery? And are you using the recommended prop range, 5.5x4.5-8x6 Slow Flyer Prop?
Over voltage can cause a motor to shut off, along with insufficient voltage, or even a prop out of the range.

Your esc is set for voltage cut off thats not in agreement with the battery your using..
Turn on your transmitter.
Move the stick to full throttle.
Plug in the battery.
It will beep to let you know your in the programming mode.
Now move the stick to Mid position. It will beep again.
If you gonna use a 2 cell battery - now move the stick to idle.
If your gonna use a 3 cell battery - now move the stick to full throttle.
It should beep at you again.
Now disconnect the battery, plug it back in and see if that works.
