Nice looking bird. Have you measured the difference in temps from before and after adding the extra vent? I plan to move my ESC and fly again. I'll check the temps. If it seems too hot I'll cut another vent hole. I'm trying to minimize drag.

I have my esc. velcroed to the motor mount so I can get the battery as far back in the hatch as possible. Makes battery changing easier.

I've replaced the elevator servo now with a HT65 also. If I did a hard inside loop it would remain wanting to go down, but if I gave it a hard blip up it would fly level. So thats 2 brand new 3114s and I think 1 aileron servo is going the same way. Not returning to center. Either I got a bad batch of servos, they don't like 2.4, the brand new 607 rx is faulty, or the 7c is going south, or 3114s are not enough for this plane.

Thanks Foamy.

I don't have a temp metter or something close so I can't tell you the before and after temp reading but I can tell you it dose run cooler with just that extra vent and i still have the ESC at the wing. I may try what altavillan did of placing it on the motor mount just to make it balance better with out having to shove the battery to far into the nose. And dont worry about the drag, one of the guys that did the Reactor Bipe review did the same on his and I didn't saw any problem with the way it flew.

Summer for the servo screw my Hitec 65 came with them.

Here is a pic of how far I have to place the 2100 battery so it balance and don't even think about how far for the 1320. You guy are lucky with the Bipe since the hatch is right on the nose.

Wow, that is pretty far forward! [X(] Mine is just about in the middle of the compartment. I started my CG about 1/4 inch behind the recommended CG. It flies well, and didn't nose over too much in the grass. The soccer field I fly my park flyers at is pretty rough. My SE5A has huge wheels, and it had trouble. I'm impressed that the tiny wheel pant covered gear on this one does as well as it does. But then again, I only need like 6 ft of runway to get off the ground.

To mount the esc on the motor box I put a piece of hard 1/8" balsa down the open bottom of the box and made the wires a tad longer. I've settled on about 5/8" behind recomended cg. Shimed the motor up and Dialed in a bit of up in a mix to stop the nose diving when powered. And put a bit of reflex in the ailerons to stop it from pulling to up when coming back down from a manouver. Just about got'er doing some very nice vertical lines. 4 point rolls on vert are tracking fairly straight. Very slippery plane, it gets up a ton of speed coming down.

Can you post pics? I'm trying to come up with a way to mount it there as well, and I think my wires are already long enough. I may even be able to do a watt measure/thrust test soon. The club is having their monthly meeting tonight, so hopefully one of the electric gurus will be there to test this thing.

finally got started on the Reactor.......like some, the wing assembly had me thinking.....so i wanted to share the method i use as trying to put 2 panels together along with trying to glues 2 spar doublers together all at the same time leaves little time to get a good mechanical bond with the wing halves at the fuselage.

first i did the right panel, and you'll see that by jigging this step you get a good bond at the fuse.

and finally the doublers are epoxied in.......this takes a bit longer to assemble, but it comes out accurate and strong.........if this wing folds, it'll be outside the fuse box.

Looking good summer it's good to know that another member take the time to do it right and do a quality job. I like your jigs to keep it firm. I did one wing at a time epoxy it to the fuse and after both where glue then I epoxy some fiberglass mesh around the spar and then both doublers at the same time. Ill take a pic of it and post it later.

I also got the ailerons and servos install with the extention before I epoxy the wings.

P.S. Are those doublers ply or balsa? I can't tell from the pic.

the doublers are lite ply, and dadoed for the recess.

i didn't use extensions for the servos because the wiring on the 3114's is long enough that they extend into the fuselage by 2.5"..............don't know where they got the needing of 6" extensions from.

Thats good then, ply is the way to go. I have JR servos in mine and they go in by 1" or a little more but where I have the receiver I need them. But they use the Futaba and they said the extensions are needed if you dont need them good for you that's less weight.

Looks pretty strong to me! Fly it and see how it does. If it folds on your first parachute, you'll know its the plane and not your "upgrade"...

HellBlaster,

Looks like you could sit on that with out it break'n..! I put my Reactor Bipe this Saturday after changing TX's and I wound up trying to fly with reversed Ailerons..... :-( It didn't work out to well.. Surprisingly all of the electronics survived so I will be looking for another bird soon, so I'm waiting to hear how yours comes out... LOL

Good Luck,

Foamy.

I have been flying it for a wile now I have done all kind of maneuver that it's hard on the wings like: walls, blender, snap roll, Parachute and many other and still in one pice. Im sure it will break somewere else sooner or later that will give me the excuse to get another plane.

Hibrass.

Im Sorry for your bipe that could happend to anyone I have done a few mistake and Im sure will do bigger ones any time soon. I hope you get another soon because if you don't I will. [sm=lol.gif]

Summer.

Yes I have and yes we do think alike, by the way did you finish your? Or you need some help from your think alike friend hehe[sm=shades_smile.gif] No, really I can't wait for you to fly yours and tell me how much you love it. I did move my ESC to the front under the firewall and hope to test it this long weekend and fly it with the new setup until my thumbs go numbs. I'll post some pics of the new location of my ESC.

Fernando,

what prop are you running on your Reactor?
i laminated the satb with CF and recovered the bottom with yellow...............got the plane going really good this morning.........last week it need 6 clicks of up trim, today it went all the way back to 0, so somewhere in the repair something got straightened out for the better[8D]...............everything about this plane was fun.

Summer.

I know you don't need my answer about the prop but for anyone else I use a 12x6 or 11x3.8 APC.

Fernando
