Tower Hobbies has weight and prop suggestions listed for RimFire motors http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLWW0&P=0
So does hacker. http://www.hackerbrushless.com/motor...spx?series=A60

... Thanks Altavillan, But this didn't tell me a lot that I can understand. It didn't say what different size engines to make a plane of this size and weight become a 3-D plane. Or if this weight can be a 3-D.Like I said I am completely new to electrics. I bought a super cub electric to learn to fly on.I really like this plane but know nothing about it. Anyway thanks for the info... Jim

Jeebo ... okay lemme try give you a hand here. For a start you need to decide what sort of performance you want, sport or absurd. For the type of plane you want to fly you can look into this for starters:
Motor: Outrunner akin to an AXI 2826/10 or 2826/12
ESC: 60A
Battery: 3S 3,000 mAh to 4S 3000 mAh
Prop: 12x8 to 14x6
You can get many different brands of motors and ESC and batts. Cheap stuff that are reliable can be bought from Hobby City, Turnigy motors and ESC are fine for your use. Zippy batts are also ok for average use, not if you want to push them to its limits.
Brands to look into:
Motors: AXI/Hyperion/Hacker - Premium ; Turnigy/DualSky/HXT etc - Average and cheap but work well
ESC: JETI/Castle Creation/Hacker - Premium ; Turnigy/DualSky/Pentium - Average and cheap but work well
Batts: Flight Power/Hyperion/Thunder Power/Polyquest - Premium ; Zippy/Desire Power etc - Average and cheap but work well

... Thank tIANci, Thats better, the way I understood things was to get a 300 Watt motor,25A ,ESC,and a 2500mah batt. Your suggestion sounds much bigger or more power. Thats the thing that I want to learn .what has more power and the parts that go with them. I suppose I will learn in time. Thank You for the reply... Jim

Jim ... when I started I was totally lost too. To say get a 300W motor can be inaccurate, you want the right motor for the plane. Some motors would give you 300W but will only turn a 5x5 prop on 3S but another motor, a bigger one can give you 300W with a 9x6 prop.
Not asking you to go really big but when you say 3.4 lbs you may mean its with a glow set up. When you go EP it might touch 4 lbs. So something like the AXI 2826 is just about nice. Next you need to estimate the right motor to use in the sense of weight to get the CG right. Battery placement and ease of access too. Enjoy the trip!

Well, generally, you can look at these numbers to get what you want performance wise:
50 watts per lb. = low powered, slow scale flight
100 watt per lb. = spirited sporty performance
150+ watts per lb. = strong vertical performance, with hovering capability
Your original estimate of 300 watts would only fly a 3lb. plane max. I'm running nearly 500 watts in a plane that weighs ~33oz. with 2100 mah lipo, and it is a screamer vertical wise. 1/2 throttle hovers. 3/8 throttle cruising.
You are going to need around 700 or so watts to get 3D performance with that plane.
