Im looking for a nice flying ARF thats isnt a fun fly and more in line with the CAP's Edge's and Extra's. I am told the Sig Extra isnt 3D so I might have to scratch that off the list. Something in the 90-120 size. Will have a spare 160FX also.
I have read of many planes that fly great but cant do 3d or can do 3D but cant pattern well. Im having a hard time with this :stupid:
suggestions are welcome along with pics

the WM 1/4 scale Extra 300s is a Great 3d and IMAC plane, flys great with an OS 160FX, but if you wanted to do IMAC with it you would want more power for Verticle uplines, etc. the 160 barely hovers it but it will hover it, Great flying plane.

from a flying perspective the Capiche 140ex due out later this year fits the bill perfectly.
However its not ARTF, and price not yet known.
I think you will struggle to find something decent for that money

I've read lots of good things about the Lanier 120 size Edge 540.

With the FX 160 in it it should be along the lines of what you are looking for. Tower should have it soon at $335 and they have a $25 discount for purchases over $300.

The Lanier is definitely more of a 3D machine than the Sig. The Sig flies very well, but Harrier is unstable and the elevators are a little small for some other maneuvers. I have seen a Lanier thrown around with a 1.60FX and it does great. The little wing halves aid in transportation too.

thanks for the input Ryan, glad you could join this thread
Let me clarify what im looking for.
Hover, some flat spins, blenders and all the standard IMAC routine capability. It doesnt have to be a monsterous 3d machine
I am in love with SIG just based on its looks, what a sharp plane. The Lanier is nice as well but its just another red EDGE
I underdstand your point though

Again, the Sig flies great. It will do some 3D but if you want a plane to throw all over the sky, the Lanier would be a better choice. I love Extras for sequence flying (just ordered my 6th Extra yesterday), but I was impressed by the way my buddy Dale (Otter on RCU) flies the Lanier Edge.
If you want a better IMAC machine then the Sig will work very well. If you want more 3D capability or would have a tough time transporting the Sig's one-piece wing then the Lanier would make a great airplane. Either would be a good choice, and a good value for the dollar.

I have the 1.20 Lanier Edge 540. I love the way it flies but my webra has seen its better day. I cant wait to order an O.S. 1.60 and finally change the servos that were in it when I bought it. The guy had standards on the elevator and a goodish (Hitech 605BB) on the rudder. I figure I will slide the 605 to the elevator and purchase another one, and I will do away with the rudder servo by putting a good servo on there. Before the engine died on me (4 months ago) I managed to get 30 or so flights on it and I was impressed. The linkage to the elevator was only giving me around 25 degrees deflection. Even with the small throws I did manage to do some flat spins, and a good looking blender. The 1.20 webra would hover the plane but it was done at 4/5 throttle so I never felt safe about bringing it on down below 50 ft. As far as IMAC goes: I have just started practicing IMAC ( I plan to start competing next year) I flew the sportsman sequence with it a few times and it really seemed to do well. Vert. lines were very straight and rolls were crisp and clean.
