Default First Time Gas Plane-Extra 300 or Edge 540? Please Read Message First.

I am wanting to get into gas planes and currently thinking on 30 percent or 1/4 scale. I currently own three planes one of which was scratch built. What do you guys recommend as far as size and setups? By setups I mean engines, radios and servos etc... If you have recommendations other than what I post in the poll please add comments and suggestions. I have a few friends who currently fly 30 percent planes doing 3D so help is not a problem. One problem I have right now is building space. Storage space is not a problem. I am wondering if an ARF may be the way to go and if so which ones do you guys and gals recommend? Thank you to all who help me with this.

They are not available yet and the first order is sold out but more are coming, but one to consider I think is the Wild Hare RC 28% Edge 540T. I have money down on one from the first batch and should be here in a few weeks. By the specs, this should be an EXCELLENT plane, time will tell with a new design.

Joe Hunt from www.downonthedeck.com has taken delivery of one and will be working on a full building and flight review over the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned to find out more...

For the introductory price of $399 I think this one will be hard to beat

That 399 price includes no hardware, and they are allready alerting people to it being heavy because of heavy aluminum so there is another 20 bucks. While Im sure that it will be a great plane there are other options.
The hanger9 italia cap is on closeout and can be bought for a bargain. The GP patty wagstaff comes complete with almost everything and is a great flyer for 379.00 Last I heard the next set of WH edges wont be out till mid-late feb. I would suggest you look at the extreme flight yak 87". It will fly on any lightweight 50cc gas and has a very light loading. People I respect and that have flown it say it fly's and 3d's like a 40% plane. It is a bit pricey but It is supposed to come with top notch stuff- carbon fiber wing tubes etc. last I heard they were looking at recieving some around feb-march. The good news is that almost noone reports anything too bad about any of the 50 cc size planes

Extreme flight would be a great choice but I dont know if they are still having problems with the manufacturer or not. I am thinking about getting the WH Edge. I want to see Joe Hunts flight report on it first. I know the hardware isnt included but neither was the hardware in my H9 ARF (1/3 scale sukhoi). I think the reasoning is that once you get to the larger gas level you have your own preference of what you want to use (which I have found to be very true). You might want to look at the Kangke Laser 2000. I have never flown one but joe has a good video on his site and the plane seemed to do very well with the DA-50. The thing I like about the WH Edge is that it was designed around the G-62. I hear that Tom has one set up on the G-62 and one set up on the DA-50 and the G-62 performs just as good if not better. This lowers the cost a lot b/c you can find a good used G-62 for under $300. Thats how I got both of mine and they both did awesome (until I crashed one of them in a big ultimate and ruined it).
