Default Another 3D question

I practice 3d on G2 and have noticed some planes SNAP/STALL on full up elevator. I have downloaded a lot of 3D planes from the G2 swap sites (almost all) and have seen that some dont snap/stall on full UP elevator and infact one can do beautiful elevators and harriers witout any ailerons mixing on them. On the other hand a lot of planes just snap on full UP, like the stock sukhoi, g202 etc.

What is this phenomenon a function off? On 3D aerobats, one needs to input almost 45 degree and more of elevator input. How can I get around this? Is it CG????

This is not necessarily a G2 question, but a real RC flying question.

Thanks,
Anurag

Default Another 3D question

Hi Rags,

Shouldn't have much to do with CG, it is all how the air flows over the wing. just like G2, real planes all do this differently. i do not know a lot about this, but washout (intetional twising of the wing) can prevent Snapping, and tapered wings tend to be more prone to snap, but constant cord wings are less likely to snap. you can experiment with some of these settings in G2.

Default Wingloading

I've notice the same thing with some of the G2 downloads out there. I believe it might be attributed to the extemely light (and in most cases quite unrealistic) wingloading. If you drill down into some of the specs of the downloaded planes, you'll notice some are 33% scale but weigh in at 12 pounds, hence a very very light wing loading. Even if the elevators were the size of barn doors (albeit very light weight barn doors) with 90 degrees of throw won't make them snap out with elevator only.
