Im 37, been flying for about 29 years, many breaks from the hobby. Mostly fly fun fly and 3D. Was into Heli's but stopped when my first little girl was born. She's now 3.5 and wants me to teach her to fly, thats my payoff for going flying with a 3.5 year old, and a 1 year old little girl. I cant wait to get to my little buddies flying too.
Its alot of fun when the 1 year old in the back pack pulls on your sun glass strap and pushes your hat over your face when your on the deck hovering

From: Aliso Viejo, CA,
I am 27 and been flying for 6 weeks.
First Plane: Worldstar.
Two days later got a big stik.
Next day after that got an Ultra Stik.
Two weeks later got another Ultra Stik.
Finally, last week got a UCD 60 and am currently flying that one. Who knows how long this on will last? LOL
New planes were a result of crashing the other ones. LOL Two of the above planes were crashed by dumb thumbs. The other two were mechanical failure. One deadstick and i could not make it back to the runway and the other was a stripped elevator servo in a flat spin and dove straight into the ground.

I am 47 and have never flown. However I built a trainer and never flew her...now in the process of building a Cub. I think I like to build more than fly...

Just turned 46 over the holidays. Been into R/C for two years now. I don't know what took so long for me to get started, but I never imagined it would be so much fun. I'm hooked for life.

I'm 11, been flying for about 3 years. I fly mostly if not all 3D, and am also into helis. I've got to get another radio with triple rates and lots of model memory (JR PCM 10x) so I can get a video of me wringing out my big Edge. ........or deadsticking it[:-]...... or midairing it[:-]... in three weeks its been through one midair, and a deadstick which ended up out in the field due to timer error ( AKA ran out of fuel). Two youngest so far are Chris-B-Chips and me.

i don't mean to start a shoot out about radios. but i have the jr 10x and it only holds 10 planes if you don't care if it says futaba. there 9 z holds a crap load and has a campac kit that will hold even more.

Well, one thing's for sure...this hobby is timeless. Judging by the replys here it doesn't matter if you're 11 or 82 (our oldest club member), or anywhere in between. I'm thinking the attraction is the same across the board. When you have the aviation bug, you're afflicted for life

9Z memory holds 10. Campac adds 2-16 more depending on the number of flight conditions used.

I have some info to you all, This is only a rumer from an EXTREMLY reliable person. JR are now going to replace the PCM10 with the PCM12. The PCM9 is out as you know. The PCM 9 has high end programiong with mid range price. Futaba had better improve, what is now becoming old techonlogy (that is if the 12 comes out) the ZAP.
All thumbs, i agree entierly.

I just turned 70. Been building and crashing models of all kinds since 1939. Started R/C in 1958. We had to build our own radios or use a single CB freqency. That was okay though, we only wanted to fly one at a time. If anyone got in a semi controlled flight he was a hero. Everybody watched every attempt and always had plenty of advice, mostly wrong but who knew? It's been a grand adventure and I've enjoyed every bit of it! I'm having to convert to electric power now 'cause I can't get down and up to start engines. I have a friend who is 85 and still flying.

I am 30. Been flying for 15 years. Been in R/C cars, boats and motorcycles for 21 years, but no longer stay on the ground. Took me a year and half to teach myself how to fly. There was a lot of crashing in that time frame.
My 6 year old daughter has been flying for 4 months and solo'd her 3rd flight. Simulators are a great way to learn.

The 10x has a datasafe that allows you to store unlimited models. I dont want to ruin the purpose of this form, but how does the 9x compare to the 10x? If you are serious about this 12x, and I get a 10x or 9x, and then the 12x comes out, OH THE CONFUSION! Now three radios to choose from? I need help![X(][sm=bananahead.gif][sm=confused.gif][sm=drowning.gif][sm=greedy.gif][sm=idea.gif][sm=stupid.gif][sm=stupid.gif][sm=stupid.gif] Anybody know how they compare? Thanks
