that's like saying that after you hand the transmitter to a new student he's "flying" while the aircraft plummets to the gound.

you have to at least have some kind of control over it ...and throttle doesn't count...can he turn it? can he correct any aspect of it's flight???? NO WAY

Think outside the bun baby.

By the way, great pics Jon, I see why you would not post them here. Now you will have to scold Wayne.
I am on my way to go try it.

Either way, its got to be fun trying something new! Can we get a DA-150 to run backwards reliably?

well i was going to think outside the bun..but let's break this down..if the plane is tail high..and the prop is turned around backwards..then the prop wash is actually going down (away from any control surfaces) so bursting the throttle can't do anything to make the control surfaces work

This is of course tongue in cheek, as I am sure the pics were meant as.

ok lets look at this one. if you don't have prop wash...or the weight of the plane helping its self to stay verticle...how fast would you have to backward climb to have enough air flowing over the surfaces to gain control? common since says it's impossible (specially inside a living room) how high can one go to keep control?

If your climbing you're not hovering. I could visualize a plane going up to correct attitude and back down with the opposite input to continue the correction. Cycling the plane up and down could give a convincing impression of an inverted hover. Hats off for trying something new.

Jon and I talked about the way the thread would read if I posted the pics.
We were exactly right. LOL.
You gotta love the internet!

BTW,
The pic is just that. A non doctored pic.

Randy,
That is the best part about this thread.....
We are laughing. I especially like the PhotoShop comments.
While Jon was experimenting with this I was instant messaging with his girlfriend and she told me he was busting up stuff in the house while trying this out.
Jon must be awesome with Photo Shop to edit a pic and have it break something in his house!

1. To remain floating, suspended, or fluttering in the air: gulls hovering over the waves.
2. To remain or linger in or near a place: hovering around the speaker's podium.
3. To remain in an uncertain state; waver: hovered between anger and remorse.
From a dictionary.
1 and 2 seem to do it for me. (I won't mention the uncertain state!)
