From: Durham,
hi,
Has anyone got any experience/ comments on the WestonUk 3D hype Artf? On Sunday my Hangar 9 Pizzaz went in, i was just starting the tentative steps into the world of 3D flying, so now im looking for a replacment. The Hype seems to fit the bill for me, the gear i had in the Pizzaz will hopefully fit in the hype:
SC .46 2 stroke fitted with a just engines 'purple pipe'
All servos futaba 3003's
mini futaba reviever,
in the pizzaz i used the 4 cell 4,8v 'standard' futaba reciver battery but reckon it would be best to get a 6v pack for the hype.
Can anyone tell me what hardware is included in the hype kit, is there an undercarrige included?
Has anyone found any problems with the hype?
All Help would be greatly appriciated, thanks!!!!
Ingie

the Hype is a good quality kit, with everything you need except radio, engine and prop. The accessories are of acceptable quality, although I replaced my elevator clevices for metal ones.
the .46 on a purple pipe will have enough power to hover it, however the throttle response might be a bit on/off with the pipe which can be a bit of a pain for 3D.
IF you can afford it get the weston 50T, otherwise consider the new Just Engines .56 with a throttle pipe
If you are going to use standard servos use a 5 cell battery for a bit of extra torque and speed.
its an ideal model to learn 3D

Is it really ideal for learning? I always thought something along the lines of Magic, Cougar or a low wing funfly/3d would be more suitable. I guess even if it is, I wouldn't learn with it, out of fear of crashing it because of my clubs bad (or horrific) interfernce problem.
My friend crashed a brand new Irvine Wild Card 'cause of interfernce, its happend to me and others countless time. Total cost to everyone £1500 easily and way upwards.
From what I've heard despite the Hypes funfly type wing it does presicion very good for a model of its type, I won't know till I've tasted one though.

IMO the best way to learn 3d is to learn to prop hang with a high wing funfly, then learn to harrier with something stable e.g a nice light 1/4 scale aerobat, then learn to put all the sequences together and torqueroll with the likes of a hype.
The 1/4 scale aerobat stage is a bit out of budget for a lot of people, a well set up hype etc is just as good and 1/4 the price!

From: Durham,
Iv contacted about 3 model shops and they all say th hype is out of stock!!!! im gonna keep lukin though i think itll be bout 2-3 weeks before nyone has a kit instock![
]
In the meantime though my dad is learning to fly with a variation of a limbo with control surfaces about half the size and movements of about 5mm so ill set that up on a different model memory on my FF6 and try to learn to prop hang. (with loads more movement)
I'm glad to hear some of my standard gear is okay to do most 3D moves, although to upgrade to a new engine especially the Weston .50t1 would be pricy! being 14 i'm on a strict budget! The purple pipe on my SC only had 2 flights before the pizzaz crashed! so if i did get a weston id still be using th purple pipe!
Ultimate, if youv'e flown/own a hype whereabouts is the best C of G for basic 3D manouvers?
Welsh3D, are you the webmaster at www.3drc.info? Because that is an increadble site!
Sorry about your Interference problem and all the lost models ZepPilot!

I dont know where my C of G is, I just started out with the position recommeneded in the instructions
and then moved it back until I dont need any down elevator when inverted
at the end of the tank it feels and flies a bit tail heavy, but its so lightly loaded its not a problem to fly like
this once you get used to the model
