Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Its happened!!!
We knew it was coming and its here. A pic of the new Capiche 90 appeared in the latest newsletter.
I'm trying to get the pic out of the pdf but I can't.
Still interesting news!!!
So we have 4 different models....

As I remember it in either the C140 thread or C50 thread someone asked for a C90 and it seems to have happened....
Phew....now time to sit down.

Ok well for those who don't suscribe to the news letter or any people not living in UK who may be interested. It looks simular to a C140 which is what this what this is designed around except to me it seems much smaller (obviously) for easy transport.
It seems nice and agile from looking at it, the first test version has been fitted with an OS 91 FX. I'll leave the rest of the info to Malcolm Corbin and the rest of the folks involved. Still, I can't wait to see this last minute suprise at Sandown.

I posted a comment about a 90 size Capiche a while ago. I thought it would be a popular size, big enough to perform but small enough to be practical as an every day sort of model. (and maybe cheaper too.) Originally I was going to scale up the 50 as its a great model, but the barron got in touch and suggested a scaled down 140 would be better at that size.
Anyway after a few emails I was lucky enough to be a Capiche 90 guinea pig. Its built as per the 140, a CNC liteply kit thats slots together very accurately, and sheeted with light balsa. Its structure is very similar to the 140, the main difference is that the tailplane, elevators, fin, and rudder are built flat section like the Capiche 50. Otherwise its the same but a bit smaller.
The wings are two piece and use the same carbon tube joiner system as the 140 - strong and light, and beautifully made.
Wing span is 68 inch, fuzz is a similar length. Weight is 7 1/2 lbs. Power is an OS 90 FX turning an apc 15 x 6 at about 9300. Wing loading is LOWER than the 140 and the model has unlimited vertical
Servos are futaba 9206s all round, (just one on the elevator) and a mini on the throttle.
Flying - I thought the C50 was good, but this better. It floats around the sky. Someone said the 140 feels like the wings are filled with helium, I know what they mean. Because it flys so light you can get away with doing stuff I would have been able to with any other model I have flown, at a much lower height.
Its a great freestyle model, smooth aeros are done with ease, rolling circles, stall turns, snaps, spins etc. Up the rates and you can turn it into a 3D animal - walls, waterfalls, parachutes, elevators, harriers, hovering, TR, high alpha KE etc.
Prior to this model I couldnt TR, or do rolling harriers. This model makes these sort of manoeuvers much easier to do, and it makes you look like a pro. I'm a lot closer to doing rolling harriers with this model than any other I have tried.
I darent let anyone in my club fly it as they will soon realise I'm not the 3D torque rolling ace I appear when I'm flying- its the model that makes it so much easier to do [8D]
pics to follow..............

yep eventually I'll put the ys110 in mine, but after Sandown.
I think with the YS 110 it will be seriously ballistic as its got a fair bit more grunt than the OS 90FX
I have built a capiche90 airframe for the barron, and hes thinking of going for an ultra light weight setup with the new ys63. It would come out at just under 7lbs and would be a VERY 3D capable model....

Maybe a YS 91 would be good to. As Ive mentioned beofore they have the same power as a OS 1.20. Supercharged too.

At 68" wing span, don't think the light weight route will work as well as it sounds. However if under 7 lb is possible, then a Saito 100 would do the trick.
However, I have wanted a YS 110 since they were launched, finally looks like I have an excuse to get one

you might be right sprink , it depends on the power to weight ratio, and getting enough prop wash past the engine cowl
As a 90 size model goes its bigger than most.

Was a clever suprise though. Can't wait to hear it goes.
Will we have that test diary thing on the flycapiche website anytime soon?
Thanks.
Shahid.

Got a reply from IH saying it is not 100% certain to go into production
. I presume that they want to guage demand before going ahead, so make sure you let them know you want one!
I would have thought that a 90 size would be more popular than the 140 as it is easier and a lot cheaper.

Me too. Something to challenge the Synergy. The Synergy looked ok but it seemed to be pot belled
.
I swear if I had the money I would get one of these. 90 size is something most sports people can reach for. 140 size can be far more expensive especially if you are getting a YS. I hope it does go into production, a 90 to bridge the gap is great.
I wonder what the wider publics reaction will be when they see the 90. Because only a handful of people know about it. When Sandown comes along it just might crop up in RCM&E.

Send an email to peter@ih to get the newsletter re sent to a specific email address.
We had shed loads of delivery rejections this month - either unknown address, account over quota and all that... The email though would have been smaller than normal with the change to pdf. I suspect some peoples pcs are set up with high sensitiveity to virus / attachments.
The 90 DOES indeed look good, and from what I here dances like a charmer !

mmmmm, my opinion? i dont like the colours but thats a personal thing. Dont get me wrong the shape is nice, tho the canopy is further forward than in the 50, dont get me wrong, id love one but i thing going thru the hasell of making a kit is annoying. meby as ive only had one. Meby.................but i dont think ill get one cos i m saving for a biger plane...............still its a very nice well proportioned plane but it just doesnt make me go WOW as the first C50 and the C140 did, its like the middle one which is just a smaler big one.............do i make any sence?

erm ok......... the C50 had a kinda thing about it as it was a first as it was one of the new breeds of 3D and F3A blends. it was new and performed well so every one wanted one. The C140 had a wow factor cos it was big and flew amazingly well. The C90 comes out and its just a middle plane. Just doesnt have that 'i want one' feel. i may change my mind wen i see it at sandown however
