Hitec 5945's are simply awesome for the price. Super strong and super fast. If you have never dealt with these or any of their equivalents then you are in for a treat. 8411's are really good too but have a reputation for wearing out the gears on larger planes.

Dig deep Dave, JR d-i-g-i-t-a-l-s you will not regret it. I'd quote you some specs, but your request was too vague. If its a smaller model, then the requirements are less and cost goes down. I do believe that in a community such as Ripley, with its caste conventionalities, if you used anything less than digitals, it would leave your social standing in question. Joe

JR 591's yuck, i'm a Futaba man but i stuck my toe in the murky waters of Junior Radio, for these. slopy, slow, horriable!!!
had Hi-tec servos in the past, don't trust them now. yes ok i had 303's years ago, but that distrust doesn't go, even tho i love their RX's.

Got a 4 day w/end here, weathers a bit iffy..not a lot to do really ..i started looking at some of the linkages / play on the UCD & Cyclone and wondered if the sevo geartrain backlash could be better ..think it could ...Homework to do.[:-]
Joe Throw me any data you can
how much are these things..?... Oh ..
now this is honest to gospell truth ...i lie not..
...in the village i was born in, 5 miles away, Codnor..( meaning " High ridge " or some such in saxoneese) there IS or was, well theres bits of it left , a Castle....we used to have BBQ's up there in the summer

LL, a standard digital from JR as in the JRPDS537 is 40.3 oz. in. torque on a 4.8 power supply, .23 sec. @ 60 degrees of travel, weighs 1.58 oz. single ball bearing, 3 pole ferrite motor $34.99
On the UCD I run the DS811s advanced sport digital 54.0 oz. in. torque on a 4.8 power supply, .18 sec. @ 60 degrees of travel, weighs 1.44 oz. single ball bearing, cored motor $47.99 Don't ask about the rudder servo, I'll be shooting myself in the foot.
Centering and backlash is zero. Never thought I would want digis until I tried them. They are sick! Lets face it, 3D is not Sunday flying. You want and need response to your inputs when the sticks move, not a second later. They are not for everybodys flying styles and they are not for all planes, but I do think they provide the needed edge in 3D.
At the LHS he does about 15% better on these prices. Joe

If youre going on a budget and do not want to spend the money on these serious servos then i'd recommend putting some Futaba 3010 in. They have very little slop, 6.8kgs of torque, nice robust gears and are the best value for money servo around. You could buy around three or four of these for the price of a JR 8511/8611
. Still recommend putting a coreless or digital on your elevator and possibly rudder if youre going to 3D it hard.

Yeah Luke...
I went out and bought 5 S3010's...got control transport nailed down and as tight as a Ducks A***...but then found at the t/e of the ailerons, next to the fuze, o.k. the ailerons are 150mm deep at this point, there was nearly 5mm free play...i'm a bit uncomfortable with that... also to support 5 S3010's, you really need a 6v 2100 mAHr NiHm batt pack..or somthing simular..
Anyway managed to get, like Joe suggested a JR DS811 servo ...yes .."A"
would you believe theyd only got one in stock at LHS.[:-].....if all this turns out well i'll order some more from somewhere ...£38...Not that bad...$69.71..[:-]...more later..

From: salt lake city, UT,
I use cumin thru setup, jr3021 and jr3421 digital metal gear, light weight. pedictable, reliable. servos are the nuts and bolts of entire operation, I see too many new 3ders show up with nice airplane/engine combo but cheep under duty servos = disaster. spend all your money on servos, if you cannot afford and airplane put them on a pizza box and wow the crowd.
