Default FLAT SPINS?

I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FLAT SPIN PLANES ON MY SIMILATOR BUT WHEN I ATTEMPTED THEM THIS WEEKEND ON
MY PLANE AT THE FIELD IT DOESN'T WORK. I PULL BACK TO IDLE NOSE HIGH, WHEN IT STALLS I PUT FULL LEFT RUDDER AND FULL LEFT AILERONS ON THE WAY DOWN. ONCE IT ROTATES TWICE, I GO TO FULL RIGHT AILERONS
AND THIS IS HOW IT WORKS ON MY SIM BUT THE PLANE WON'T FLAT SPIN. I HAVE A 60 SIZE GS300 AEROBATIC
PLANE WITH A MDS.78 TWO STROKE. THE CONTROL THROWS ARE SET ON HIGH RATES, BUT NOT AS FAR AS THEY
COULD GO. JUST WANDERING IF I AM DOING IT WRONG OR IF I HAVE TO SET UP MY PLANE DIFFERENTLY? THANKS.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

Try putting in opposite aileron more gradually instead of all at once. Also make sure it's all the way into the regular spin before you try to flatspin.

Don't forget to give yourself plenty of altitude to recover. And you do know how to recover right? (It tends to be harder and scarier than a regular spin!)

Hex is right, you should try to add the aileron slower. It is usually imparitive with this plane that you have entered a full stall. You may also want to try to add some power while adding opposite aileron, once you have entered the spin add more power and try feeding some down elevator in there to make the spin SUPER FLAT. I have flown this plane and it is easy to flat spin and will almost come to a stop when you do it right.

WELL, SEEING AS HOW I THOUGHT I NEW HOW TO DO IT BECAUSE OF IT WORKING ON THE SIM, MAYBE I SHOULD
ALSO ASK YOU HOW TO RECOVER. I'D HATE TO GET INTO IT AND NOT GET OUT!! THANK YOU.

In this airplane you should allow yourself plenty of altitude until you know how it will respond. Generally speaking you can relax the stick gain airspeed and then fly out. If the airplane doesnt want to fly out by releasing the stick then you might have to add opposite rudder to stop the spin. The depends on the wing loading and weight. With mine, I was always able to just release the stick.

If the nose will not drop so the plane returnes to a normal spin, power is the key to flat spin recovery, you must get the entire airplane going forward for the controls to work properly. In a flat spin the slip stream no longer flows over the vertical fin so rudder no longer workes properly.
I have found it is best to keep a little throtle on to insure ihe engine is runing if it is needed.

Throttle does help once the spin stops (if you want to come out). But with this airplane I have had the engine go dead during the spin and had no problems recovering and making a landing. If you are in a true flat spin, with this plane (and all I have ever put into a flat spin) if power is added while in the spin then the spin will get flatter and faster, when you release the controls the nose will drop on this airplane (mine did). If you still cant do it you could always "blender" the airplane into an inverted flat spin. You might already know how to do this so I wont go through the instructions, but if you dont know how to do it just let me know and I will walk you through it (to me a blender transition is easier than getting some airplanes to flat spin, and it looks far more impressive).[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

I ACTUALLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT EITHER. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I AM GRATEFUL AND IMPRESSED
WITH THE RESPONSES TO MY QUESTIONS. I SPENT TIME ON ANOTHER R/C WEBSITE AND MOST OF THE TIME YOU
WOULD SPEND TIME WEEDING THRU ALL THE NONSENSE AND CHILDISH ANTICS.

I agree this is a pretty good site as far as getting feedback quickly.

The blender is actually considered to be a 3D manuver but its not all that tricky. First off, lets define what a blender is. It is actually a fast roll on a down line that transitions into an inverted flat spin (that virtually stops with larger airplanes). How to do it?: Altitude is key here, climb up to around 3 or 4 mistakes high and pull the trottle, nose the airplane down in a straight line towards the ground and push full left aileron, after a few rolls (2-3) add opposite rudder and full down elevator (note full left aileron is still being applied). To fly out then just relax the stick gain altitude and fly out inverted or right side up(may require a half roll to get sunny side up).
