Hey i recently started building my laser and have already completted the wing. i am planning to put the new saito .82 and all standards except for the rudder im using one with 77 ounces of torque. looking over previous forums i have noticed a need for modifications however i have not been able to find exactly what i need to do. so i would like to possibly have a list of the mods and if you want some pics of what was done. this is my first 3d plane and i want to do it right. thanx
p.s. feel free to show pics of ur lasers

OK.
The basic. mods.
-reinforce the firewall and use an aftermarket engine mount ( I'm using a GP 40-60 on mine with a YS 63 )
First I used the wood stock mount and it was not strong enough to handle my Ys so with the saito it'll be the same story.
What i did was to glue the stock firewall and then a 1/8 doubler , made a hatch under the tank and installed the blind nuts for the engine mount.
Some guys reinforced their tails, I didn't do it with mine what I did was to build the tail with the hardest balsa stick that I could.
The rudder servo is mounted in the tail.
You'll enjoy this plane no problems so far with mine , great performer.
Hope this helps.
If you need more info or pics. let me know.

I used a Du-bro anti-vib mount with a YS63S, sheeted all flying surfaces with the thinest balsa I could find and then cut out lightning holes. Didn't reinforce the tail. She was a great flier until I had a mid-air and lost!! Bought another kit already.

epc, thanks for the info, if you could send some pics thatd be great also how do you mount the servo in the tail. i notice some guys built it without wing tips whats that about. i dont meen to sound dumb because this is not my first kit but how is the tail whell conected to the rudder (if it is) because the instructions arent too clear on that.

thanks for your pics those all look great. i still cant decide if i hack the wing tips or not so any more input on that would help. i am most likely going to put a after market mount for the engine and mount the rudder servo in the tail. question for a340 , is that a stock canopy and if not what is it and where can i get one it looks great.
i think the color scheme im doin is a little closer to micro macs, once again thanks for the pics and info

i miss it and seeing this thread has decided it for me.this time though i will brace tailplane as i thought with my previous one it moveed to much for my liking, especially in prophang the elevators used to vibrate wildely[X(]i to modified the mount with a plastic job, cool plane though[8D]

Wing tips or not? I decide not to use them based on what CHM says. He have tried both. A lot of excellent information in prev Laser 3D topics... do a search.
Rudder servo in tail or not, for me that was just a CG issue. If your Laser is nose heavy put the servo in the tail.
Only thing so far i don´t like is that big Irvine muffler... its heavy, and the t servo is located on the same side. I had to put 20+ g led in right wingtip.
Macs muffler is on the buying list, I will save 50g muffler wight and some led.

Ditto the comment about the stock mount. Mine started to break loose after the third flight. I reinforced it with some hardwood square stock and screws. Its holding for now. My engine is a Saito 72.

Hercmate was right about the spinner, the YS ripped it apart when I throttled up just after starting it, luckily I was stood behind the model at the time. Ended up using a Dubro domed nut instead.
3D FREESTYLE, I used the stock canopy and sprayed the inside with a Tamiya smoke colour spray that the car guys use.
Some nice looking lasers out there. On my next one I don't think I will put on the wing tips, Pain in the a**e to cover!
