I've just picked up one of these Katana's in a clean swap with a helicopter, and I have a couple of questions about it.
It came with 2 sets of wings, the older design with a short joiner which have had about a dozen flights with an ASP 108 2s, and they have had no problems (the bloke I got it off said that a few guys were folding these wings in the more extreme aerobatics) And the newer design with the longer joiner (much stronger)
The old wings are immaculate, but the new wings were damaged in freight. Most of the damage is repaired, but there is still a little bit that i'll have to attack to get the wings straight.
Should I bother with it, or just use the old wings?
I'll be running an OS 108 FSR and mostly standard radio (dual ballraced servos on ailerons & elevator, Digital on rudder) so I don't think I'll be going TOO nuts with the 3d.
Thanx

Hi you might want to check the grain of the shear ribs in those old wings.
A guy in my club has a CMPRO Katana and had to remove a portion of the film on the bottom of both wings and replace the shear ribs as the grain was running down the span and not vertical, also part of the shear ribbing was cracked.

Hey, your right. Both sets of wings have a shear web/spar interlocking with the ribs for the full length of the wing. On the old wing it is balsa, the new wing is ply. Thanks for pointing that out. I think I might just persist with repairing the new ones for this, and the following reason:
The 108 i plan to use is currently in the aircraft pictured to the left. I could take it out, but its a really nice flying model and I don't really want to disable it. There is a shiny new OS 1.60 FX sitting in my LHS that I'm sure would make a great christmas present to myself, as well as make this Katana fly the way its supposed to (vertically). Besides having to buy a car for my soon to be wife, and needing to buy a motorbike for myself, it shouldn't take me too long to save up for it. What do you think? I've seen these Katana's fly on both a moki 1.40 and 1.80, and both were ballistic, so i think the 1.60 would suit it well.
