Drumbum, you were lucky to get that plane down! So you've lost surface control and had a bad RX and the CM still flies!

Like you guys I really liked my Cap M. I had a lot of fun with it until it went in...at least it did that in a KE!! I'd get a new one, but I have a 1/3 Laser I am recovering right now.

Later
i lost the transmitter. and it was the next day after the cap lost servos on elevator.. it destroyed the plane i was flying when the transmitter went out

Wow, sorry to hear the plane went in. I guess it was totaled then? Did you happen to document the evidence so you can put it here where we all can examine it?

We have been itching to get ours out again soon. Getting ready to put a Perry Pump on the CM's Saito 100. We've been pre-occupied with foamies lately. Never enough time to get to the airfeild to fly the bigger birds. Sure got my priorities all messed up, huh? Ours is still unscathed and beautiful, but sure hasn't see much airtime.

Been flying mine as weather and family time premits.
The airplane is still a joy to fly but soon will have others that I will
have to share the flying time with. Purchased a YS140L recently and will
put that on a friends CAPX that he retired and is selling. While on vacation
in Hot Springs, Ark I picked up a Magig Formula 3D that is replacing my
Razzle 3D. I'm putting a Saito 100 on the Fourmula. So real soon I should
have three airplanes to fly and share the skies. But for the time being
the Cap is the only plane I have that I can fly.

Looks like I will have to do a recovering job sometime in the near future as it is peeling off of the wing and tail feathers.
Flew it agian the last two nights since the weather has been pretty good for the last couple of days.

Did anyone see the clearence price that BME has/had on them today.
I saw an advertisement on RCU that had them for 169.99 but BME's website does not show this price.
I'm debating about picking one up at that price as that is a hard price to beat. I could transfer everything
over to the new airframe and take my time in recovering the old airplane for future use.

yes i did see that.. it says while supplies last so i wonder if he is going to discontinue them... all he has to do is get them covered in ultracote and get some deicent hardware and he would sell them like crazy.. I love the way mine flies All their new planes are covered in ultracote

Maybe it is not a discontinueation but trying to get rid of what he has on hand and replace with a newer version?
I emailed them to see why the price does not show up that way on the web but have not gotten an answer yet.

Well had a little accident at the field tonight and the cap took it hard.
Broke the carbon fiber gear and the firewall and tore into the covering at the back.
The wing is untouched and the fuselage is fine where te CF gear was hooked on.
The four screw's were still in the airplane. It can be fixed if I want but I'M debating
wether to just order a new one from BME. The clearance cost is 20 dollars lower than
the orignal price that I paid for my Cap. I do like the way it flys but I'm also wondering if
I should just move onto another plane. If I get a chance I will post some pictures later.

Had someone land their Showtime hard and it broke the gear right off the airplane.
He was on is third flight for the airplane and it is kinda wierd how it happend.

Third incident at the field tonight was that someone crashed thier Sig Four Star.

Talked with Max about the clearance and they have major plans for the Maniac line to be expanded
but they need to clear out stock. Could be interesting in seeing what else they have coming out in the
future.

I ordered my CAP on the 11th and got email that said my order was received,I never got email that said when it would ship or cost of shipping ,so I emailed them back to see when it would ship and shipping costs, and asked about improvements Max said he was going to do in Feb. they never got back to me about that so I emailed them again and asked about first email and Max emailed me back and told me the plane shipped on the 12th and my shipping costs and that was all . I hope this bird has the up grades he said he was adding in Feb. like the CF wing tube and push rods and upgraded fuel tank and control horns and the problems with Q.C. Does any one have a newer version with these upgrades? I would like to know if Max did what he said he would or not. Thanks ahead of time for any answers.

as far as i know there is no upgrade... also the cap does not have a wing tube..

just get the plane and buy all new hardware and you will be fine.. the plane flies great and will 3D well with a saito 100

well I ended up down to 1 flyable plane. so i blew the dust off of my cap maniac and stuck my YS-110 in it along with 5645s all the way around on 6v.(since it will be a little while before i have the cash for a saito 100 and a VP-20 pump). she ought to be a beast at just below 8lb. Im going to try to fly it tomorrow if weather permits..

Drum,
That plane will be a rocket with the YS on it.
I can only imagine what that plane will fly like with that engine. If I had not had my saito,
I would have looked at the 110 to put on this airplane.
Still thinking of what I want to do. I can rebuild the Cap that I have or look at getting another.
I do believe this is a great plane and it will only get better if they release a new version(s) of the
maniac line. That also makes it hard to just go out and purchase a new one as I really would like to
see what they are coming up with both in improvents to the current airplane and anything new in
the works.

well i flew it twice today.flies awesome with the 110.but i think when i drilled the motor in when it was on my showtime i hurt it. i had a dead stick coming out of an inverted harrier to a hover.NEVeR DEAD STICKED on me before.. also i noticed power was a little low. and it smelled hot even when it was pouring rich. there also seems to be no medium point between to rich or too lean since the crash.. I managed a harrier pancake style landing that seemed to just bend my gear.. but after an inspection found that it desroyed something MAJOR in the wing just outside of the belly pan area about 6" out.. I wouldnt say it was hard enough to break a wink in half but it looks like if I flex the wing that the only thing that is holding it together is the bottom spar.. The only thing that clued me to the damage was the covering on top of the wing was a little wrinkle.. that is because ALL the top sheeting in that area is broke. Another interesting thing is the spar in the wing goes way past where it broke.. so i cant understand what is going on with it untill i cut it open.. I will have to cut the sheeting of the bottom of the wing to get in there to do surgery and fix it.. I thought the wing was built pretty tough but maybee i was wrong.. or maybee they built it too tough and it couldnt give any when it got shocked. so i will have a few hours of work before i can find out if my motor is really messed up or not

Bummer Lee... , Hope it's not too hard to fix.

We are converting our Nexstar Trainer over to electric, and the hardware will go into the CM eventually. Bill wants to go fly when I'm not around, and nitro is just too much of a headache to do alone. His retired fingers aren't what they used to be. So, he bought all the HOT goodies to make the CapManiac a ballistic missile.

AXI 4130/16
CC Pheonix 80 Amp ESC
Dymond Modelsports 5S2P 8000 mAH Lipoly

Promises to pull 10 lbs thrust with a 14x10, and 13-14 lbs thrust with 16x10. Should be FUN!

My wing snapped in half 2 weeks ago on mine doing a blender. While I know this is a stress on it I could not believe it broke that hard. When we inspected it the spar was a very soft wood. With all the other problems like fit of components and crap china cote covering this last problem does not suprise me.Oh well live and learn.

Yea, we complained about the "weak" wing spar from day-one. It' looked like it wasn't strong enough to me, and we glass-coated the wing joint. Sounds like the breaks are outboard somewhat. Where are you guys seeing the fracture?

On top of wing about 4 to 6" out.. it broke TE on the bottom and mangled the top sheeting. there was barely a scuff on the tip of the wing where it hit

when i cut it open i will know more
