yea ha ,
man what an airplane. i just flew mine for the first time this weekend. i was wanting a learner plane for 3D. this is it fellows. i have very little experience with 3D yet . but it would elevator pretty good , still need a little more elevator and an aft cg but it would do it. i could hold the hover for about thirty seconds and i think that is pretty good for the first flight out and only tried to hover few times before with other planes. this thing is great lands like a baby on a pile of pillows. i couldn't get it to stall out board only in board. i think morris put out a great product on this one.

What does it weigh? What prop are you using? You know the routine...

If I built one it would without a doubt get a Saito 72...
Pictures? Anyone...

i ran a 14x5n on it. it weights 4lbs. and yes i got it the Friday before last. i set the cg dead nuts on the spar . it needs to be moved back to the aft cg to get it to cut up better. but did exceptionally well at this cg. lots of potential.

Here are most of the first Sledge's. In the photo are: Back Jeff Williams (JWilliams) the designer and all around nice guy. Left George Louden builder of 3 1/2 Sledges. Right Jim Hazlet and in front Tom Small (Smallfly) with his.

I've been looking for a profile...had just about decided on a Top Cap, but this Sledge is pretty sweet. I guess the deciding factor is I actually have the same name as the designer.

Wayne, I did the graphics on my own. It was printed on regular paper, glued to the Ultra-cote, and hand cut. It really doesn't take very long once you figure it out. I don't know if I will make it to the fly-in it is to hard to figure out my schedule that far in advance. Ask me on the 16th if I made it. Tom

Cooney2787,
How did you mount the landing gear? The gear supllied in the kits is too small to mount it in the hardwood block on the lower part of the fuse and the lower engine bearer. It doesnt reach both.
How'd you do it?

hmm, it fit on mine real nice. i measured off the plans and drilled the holes in the fuse. the holes in the landing gear was at the outer edges. i already ran out fuel once and landed in the high grass and the gear held on real good.

yeah mine hit both hardwood pieces. mine was one of the first kits debbie called me the day they were ready to ship and sent me mine. i dint see how you could miss the hardwood when you built right on top if the plans. seems that may they short changed you in the landing gear department. maybe they bent it to short ?

coony2787, glad to hear you are having success with your sledge. You will learn 3D from this one very well.
Not sure why Waynes gear is a bad fit, it being the first kit and all could have lead to the wrong gear being packed. I would think Morris will fix that. Keep the stories coming I enjoy hearing about your fun. Jeff Williams

yeah i'am having a real ball with it. except i found a new maneuver for it i call it the SLEDGE HAMMER. all you have to do is attempt a harrier landing and about 20 ft. from the ground lose control of it and try to power out of it and wallah SLEDGE HAMMER!!!!!!! then pick up the now broke in half plane and repair.
man it made sick when i dumb thumbed into the ground.(never never never try to power out of a stall 10 ft. from ground just take what you can get and put it on the ground the best you can) it was a pretty easy repair to put the fuse back together. i'am back out practicing every day.
