I think it depends on how much power youve got. On my shockyflyer i have to use -40% expo to make it steady in the hover. On my bigger fourstroke freestyle planes i usually have around -10-25% expo.
I would just experiment around abit and see what works best for you

I like mine linear, for all types of flying but especially F3A where good throttle control is essential to presenting a nice flight. I only use a throttle curve to obtain this. ie 1/2 power really is 1/2 power etc.
Some people mix a flat spot in the throttle curve so that it looks like an "S" shape. People have done this in F3A to get a cruise control type of thing and also in 3D where the flat spot is at the throttle setting needed to hover. In the hover you therefore get much finer control of power. I personally dont think it makes much difference.

Foof,
Ideally yes. Basically every click of throttle should make a difference to the engine. This is both good linkage + might need to use a curve. A bit is in the flying aswell and how it feels but basically if you set it up on a tacho that would be more than good enough then go from there if you feel it needs fine tuning.
People tend to forget their throttle function and spend all the other time setting up their other functions. Throttle need a bit of attention aswell.

ps hows your Smack Head going? Did you try that C of G test?

I have not used expo much on anything.. Only 1 or 2 times just messing around.. Flying other peoples radio's with lots of expo on any surface just feels weird to me.
