Default Mounting batteries & receiver with velcro

I've seen lots of big planes with the batteries and receiver mounted with only Velcro(no foam), and a couple of plastic, or Velcro ties through the airframe. Is this really providing enough vibration protection on a gas powered plane? What other methods are you guys using? Thanks for any input.

I have been doing it for 12 years on everything from 40 size to 33% and have had more switches go bad than batteries and receivers conbined. Of course most of the time I wrap them in foam before I velcro them in place--

I usually put a piece of foam underneath the receiver or battery pack, then wrap with a piece of velcro. Sometimes I also add a cable tie for insurance.

Default Velcro and foam

I use velcro, siliconed to the structure, with some pieces of foam around the components. (See photo)

No problems.

My method may be a bit more primitive, but it works. I use the adhesive velcro with one side on a piece of foam and the other adhered to the desired location on the plane. I secure the foam/velcro piece to the component with rubber bands and stick it to the airframe.

I've seen people use just velcro, with is probably OK for high frequency/low amplitude vibration, but I prefer to have the foam in place for extra isolation.

A guy from my club Mounted the batteries in his new pattern ship with Velcro, during a snap roll in a hight about 60 feet the battery came loose and pulled it self out of the receiver. Result totally wrecked pattern ship.

Default Try Zeal silicone padding from Kyosho

Kyosho makes a product under the name Zeal. It is a very squishy, extraordinarily sticky double faced silicone pad about 5mm thick made for mounting receivers to helicopters. Two 5mm wide strips will hold the receiver until you pull it off. If I need to stick it to wood then I paint the mounting area with a little epoxy

It will hold the battery too, but for that I use a full surface piece due to the weight of the battery. There is a thinner pad (about 3mm think) for that application that costs less than the other.

I use it because it is secure, very easy to use, and results in an extremely professional looking mounting.
