Hey all, I'm looking for a scale like plane around .90 or 1.20 sized 3D plane. I've looked at the Funtana 90 and I'm just not sure about it. I've seen Kyle's video for it and have heard lots of good things and bad things about it too. I'm just wondering what else is available out there to fly and something thats not hit or miss.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Here's a vote for the Sig Mayhem. See my info in the Glow to Electric Conversion forum.
With its huge rectangular wings, it floats when asked, and has no bad behaviors that I've seen. I'm an intermediate flyer, and I love this plane. I've seen an expert fly one, and it does everything.

Harrier 3d is a unbelievable value for the money. Very well built with only 60 inch span and still very much a floater. My cheap Evo 100 keeps deadsticking on me but the Harrier just keeps floating in every time with no power and I'm no great pilot. Love this plane!!!

take a look at profile planes, i think that at 90 and under sizes the profile is better for 3D because of the KE performance..

1) the wing servo mounts are weak...this has been fixed with the version two wings, so it is not a valid complaint.
2) people have had flutter problems...SIMPLE SOLUTION= LEARN HOW TO FLY! If you don't have throttle control, you are not ready for a 3D plane. Other people will chime in and say they know how to fly and still had problems. I guarantee you one, or a combination of, three things happened:
1) poor quality servos
2) careless linkage setup. You need to have proper mechanical advantage, and the point at which the clevis attaches to the control horn should be directly over the hinge line. If not...HELLO FLUTTER!
3)they didn't seal the hinge gaps..nuff said there.
Go to the other forums (www.rcgroups.com www.flyingciykus.com) and read what they have to say about this plane. This forum is the only place I have heard anything bad about the funtana, so there must be a reason for it.

One more thing, i would use Hinge points if you build an FT90, i have seen to many of those things fail at high delflection, another thing get digis, holding power is what you need, and at 3degrees of center they creat maximum torque! Dont put the ball links on the control horn like they say to do in the instructions, thats just plane wrong.....dont ever do that. Another thing, this 'aint' a speed demon, its a 3d demon, so dont fly it like your mustangs or any other plane of that sort, speed is not good(just make sure she stays in the air lol.,@@@!!)
as you have heard, FUN-tana.....

disagree about scrapping the ca hinges, but to each his own. The robarts will work fine as well, but they are not necessary. I have been running CA hinges in planes up in the 40% range with no problems. The key is to use a good quality CA (not odorless) and to use enough of it, assemble with a very minimal gap, like 1/64", but DO leave that gap-this will allow the hinge to "roll" instead of fold and crease, and, of course, seal the gap!

Extreme Flight Yak 54, 68". Another real nice plane that I think is underrated is the Sig Mayhem 3D.
