Got mine with a Saito 150 with a perry pump and flew it for the first time today. WOW!!!! this is the best flying plane I have ever flown, hovers almost hands free. Lands slower than even my U can do 90 and flies pattern with precision. What else can you ask for in a plane.

Finally flew my Obsession, flys great BTW...

I had to replace the tail wheel assembly. The snap ring kept coming off and the tail wheel would drag...

Why the snap ring is on the bottom of the tailwheel assembly, receiving the weight load of the plane, I don't understand

I decided to go with a YS 1.40 FZ. Plenty of power. Now if someone can tell me how to stop the MACs flexible coupling pipe to stop cracking..I'll be happy..

I have purchased an Obsession 3D. I have an OS 1.20 Surpass 4-Stroke with Pump and a YS 1.40 DZ. I am hearing all of the advanced flyers talking about the YS 1.40 DZ not giving the Obsession unlimited vertical. I am sure the advanced flyers would rule out the OS 1.20 all together; however, with me being more of an intermediate flyer, I was wondering if I should start out with the OS 1.20 and then switch to the YS 1.40 or should I go for the YS 1.40 from the beginning. I know some would say the more power the better and I myself am leaning that way as well. Your thoughts are appreciated in advance.

I just bought this plane with a Saito 1.50 basicly ready to fly. Does anyone have any comments concerning CG or any other issue which hasn't already been addressed here?

UPdate on Electric Conversion:

AUW under 12lbs.
We have it set up as "trainer" on low rates as owner is getting back into flying and wanted to save money on buying 1 vs 3 planes.
We have been flying it for 6 weeks now.

Other than some initial ESC bugs, this thing flies great!!

Had a fellow flier who flies 3D try it out at "all you can get" throws.

I have never seen an airplane NOT loose altitude during an inverted flat spin.
This was the first:
Every 3-4 rotations you could discern a minor loss of altitude (say 12-18")

Engine is pulling an amazing 2450 watts (3.25 HP) with a 17x8 APC-E prop.

This aircraft was a perfect aircraft to convert to Electric (for any of you looking at doing so).

Hope to have some videos here in the next 2-3 weeks.

Keep em flying,

Dave

Tower just dropped the price again to $229.99, which is even better than what I paid. If you count the $20 off $149 or more special running than that knocks the price down to $209. Just got my Saito 180 too. This one should be fun.

Here are a couple of Pictures...Done except the engine cant afford it.........Another week or so....I had fun with the cockpit and pilot... The canopy turned out to be kinda tough to get on..it was kinda warped....Thats my only complaint though....Jim

I'll let you all know how it flys....

I had the Obsession's little brother the Matrix and absolutely loved it. It was the best 40-sized 3D plane I've owned. Rock solid harriers upright and inverted, HA knife edge, rolling harriers, etc.. it did them all extremely well. I don't fly glow anymore but I'm very tempted to pick one of these up and shove a 40cc gas engine in the front of it. What's everyone's AUW coming out to? If I could keep it in the 13lb range it would be more than doable provided I could get it to balance. Can anyone give me the dimensions for the firewall?

Sam,

I'm considering selling mine. The plane flies really well, but I've always had small planes because of my small sedan. It takes forever to pack now and to leave the field and it's getting old. I like it enough that I'm considering a trailer or larger car. I thought a friend who wants a larger trailer would've sold his to me by now, but he hasn't.
Mine has on board glow, a perry pump and a Saito 150. It has Hitec MG's and everything is fairly new. I'll give it some more thought and let you now. Where do you live?

Any idea when you might know something? Tower has them at $229 less discounts puts them around 200 bucks.

Sam,
I need a couple of days to think about it. I'll let you know. I will tell you everything on my plane is top notch and it has only twenty five flights roughly. I'll ask a reasonable price for it even if it takes longer to sell. I realize the plane isn't costing much these days even after adding shipping and tax, but the servos and the practically new saito 1.50 and the spinner and the onboard glow all add up. If your looking to get it really cheap you may need to talk to someone else. I'll think about it over the weekend and let you know.

I feel your pain. I used to get attached to my models too but soon learned not to.

Anybody else wanna sell one of these and know how much you want for it?

Sam,
My last post was about money. Not attachment to the model. There was a guy here who was selling just the airframe in the classifieds. Have you looked there?

hello everyone,
i have the obsession coming from tower in a few days. i have been studying the manual for it on CG website and i can not seem to figure out how they are instructing the main wing mount. i have built over 10 .40 size planes in the past and just started getting into the bigger planes. can anyone tell me in detail how to mount the main wing? i am also thinking of getting a saito 180 for it. i am just getting into 4 stroke engines as well. however, everyone keeps mentioning the OS 1.60, is that a 2 stroke? i hope someone can answer my questions.
recap: main wing installation (maybe with some pics?)
Saito 180? OS 1.60?
hope to hear from someone soon.
Gino

This is a warning about the hinges. It's been mentioned before that they seem flimsy. After about twenty five flights my left elevator completely broke off in flight today. The servo arm held it on the plane and it was like an air damn in the wind. It wasn't too hard to land, but I am noticing other broken hinges also. I'm going to cut them all and use robarts(probably).
