boy...looks like lots of right thrust...anyway to straighten the cowl so it matches the spinner better on that?
I thought it was just me...I measured the centerline and it seemed dead center and eyeballing the firewall could not see right thrust which would of course require the line to be offset to center the spinner. I figured maybe a last minute design change perhaps that wasn't written into the manual.
I see some people not shimming the motor though and for some it's flying ok (at least in their opinion). I will fly mine in stock setup for the review and then if necessary I'll shim it out as well. Reassuring knowing I wasn't the only one and I may hold off on cutting the cowl up until I test fly it for thrust angle.

Mecam,
You said you was probably going to change your prop to a 15x4w. did you do that yet. If so how did it help our hurt you flight performance.
I am using a saito 91 w/ 15x4W. I have about a couple more hours worth of work and it will be finished.

Hover a little lower? Hmmm, can I try it on your Fiberclassics?

Also, where is your CG. I don't have my cowl mounted yet. I am waiting to see if the Saito 91 w/ 15x4W prop is going to have enough power. But w/ my battery mounted as far forward in the fuselage, my CG is at 5 1/2"

You can mount your engine slightly left of the vertical centerline. That will give you right thrust. However it is had to know how much you will need. I would mount my engine slight left of the centerline, and then add washer under the left side of the mount if necessary. You can see how much mecam needs. Big diameter low pitch props will need the most (lot's of torque).

I finally got my plane finished. I haven't weighted it yet.
But here are my RPM figures w/ Saito 91 15x4W Bryron 15/16 fuel.
Peak RPM is 9,200
Set it to fly at 8,700.
I might move up to 20/20 fuel
I live near Memphis, TN if you want to check the altitude.

Mine didn't look like it has anyright thrust build into it.
I have mine set right now for initial flight w/ 2 washers on left side between motor mount and firewall.
Did anybody have to use any up or down thrust.

I'll find out from GP what the specs should be on this...I'm doing a review which should be ready for the next issue on the UCD so I'll note it as necessary in there and post what I find out here in case some went out the door without the spec'd thrust angle.

I know I have been able to get 9500 peak and 9200 ready to fly on a satio .91 w/ 15x6 using Coolpower 30% Heli. I would believe the 15x4w should turn close to what 14x6 would. That is around 10k. If your performance is down you should check your rocker arm clearence it might be excessive. In contrast a satio 100 turns a 15x6 at 9800 to 10k. The Satio 100 is the motor I would pick for this plane.

Nevermind on the valve clearence, I found it. I will check my valves tonight.
Also sport 10, your running 2times as much nitro as I am. That why your getting more RPMS.

flew mine yesturday for the first time. I have Saito 91 w/ 15x4W prop Using bryon 15/16 fuel. It flys about 1/2 throttle. I still have some trimming issues to work on. Was 2 windy to work on.
Mine pulls out of a hover like a freight train, it will pull out but it does it real slow. I might try dropping down to a 14x4W. More nitro or something.
If I can't get more pulling power on uplines, I will swap motors to something else.
