When I first set it up I did not like the plane at all the CG was set at 5 in and built by the book but it flew terrible. To make a long story short I ended moving the motor 1/2 inch forward on the mount and it flew like a different plane. There are 3 other Twists at my field and now all of them have moved there motors forward. You would not believe the difference it made in the way the plane handles.

Lannybob, I have one and would suggest that unless you have lots of experience flying that you set the control surface travels to a very mild throw initially. I had set my first one up to the low rates and also high rates originally and found that the high rates are way too radical if you're not ready for it. [8D]

extra addict;
Don't you want to have a rather tail heavy plane? I had mine set up to the book but changed lately by shifting the CG back a tad. Flies better for me.

It could have just been my plane but @5" it was no fun at all to fly. I of course have not tried it since I moved the motor forward.

Use a .60 or larger sized motor as a .46 will be no fun[:'(]

I have one that broke in half on me right behind the wing (very rough landing) I have since rebuilt but I lengthend the tail end 2.5 inches and recovered the canopy hides it all. I am going to put an OS 61 FX on that one should be interesting to see how it flys ! I have a 46 AX on my other one and it has more than enough pullout from a hover. I am running 20% nitro in it though.

LANNYBOB

First things first ... don't fly the Twist with a minimum sized motor ... Mine has a Saito FA-80 (OH YEAH) ... Unlimited Vert and enough power on reserve to get me OUT of trouble when I need it. Now, I am swinging a 15x4W APC 3D Prop, so I had to put .90 sied wheels on my gear to get the nose up to avoid prop strikes, but I only need about 3 feet roll-out before I am full vert.

Next ... How do YOU plan on flying the twist? If you are going to just putter arround the field, then make her a bit nose heavy and go ubber light on your control throws. Now ... If you plan on ripping a hole in the sky with massive 3D high alpha manuvers then make it tail heavy and set your high rates up to "barn door" throws ... as much trow as you can get ... in fact, I put longer servo arms on mine for near 80 degree elevator.

Ask any TOC or Nats Pilot how they set up their planes for 3D and most will tell you "tail heavy to the point where it is almost unflyable!".
