What are you guy's using for expo for 3d flying? I've heard some say that it is easier to hover with little expo. What do you guys think? Tell us your radi setup! Thanks!

me personaly, is
60% on ele (to soften it up so i dont have to switch back and forth on rates)
40% on ail (same as above, will allow you to fly around with ease but you have it when you need it)
0% rud (need it to move that tail around, helps with hover)
these rates allow me to stay on high rates and still be able to fly but i have my max throws when i need them
yours may vary for your comfort.

personally,
50-60% for both ail/elev, and 0% rudder since my airtronics rd6000 doesn't have it.... argh
i'm also working my way slowly down as far as i feel comfortable, hoping to adjust to less + less expo as times goes on

50% ail and ele, 80 rudder coz my left thumbs a bit violent at the mo. Could easily take 20 off each surface, but i'm in a comfort zone now.

It really vaires depending on plane design. I usually start with the 50% expo on all surfaces as well as 50% dual rates, with all surfaces movement physically maxed out at full rate.
I find that some planes are very sensitive to small rudder input during hover, like UCD 3D and Ultimate Bipe. So I give some expo to smoothen out the yaw correction.
Some other planes, like Funtana 40, is not sensitive enough to small rudder input, so expo or not won't really matter, because it needs full rudder correction most of the time.
I usually don't have expo on the aileron, because I don't do too much partial aileron stick movement during hover.

Spoilerons are good for harriers if you put them on a switch. One of the guys this way has them on a sprung switch so when he releases he's back to no mixing, makes life a bit easier. A bit of Rudder to Ele/Ail might help with control-line circles and knife-edge loops too.

I use 75%-85% on all surfaces, but I don't have low rates programmed in. I really don't like how my TX has dual rates and expo set up. Expo for ailerons and elevator are controlled by two switches on the transmitter, up for on, down for off. Dual rates are controlled by the same switches, up for on, and down for off. So I'm not able to have expo with both high rates and low rates. Pretty crappy.

Interesting thing... not sure what radio you have but I am using a Futaba 9CAP. However I programmed a friend's Hitec Eclipse 7 and the expo on that is crap!!! 100% expo is equivalent to maybe 60-70% on the futaba and it still doesn't respond the same. Anyone else find the same thing to be true? One thing also to note is that I have my expo dialed in so that when you switch from low to mid to high there is little to no difference in sensitivity when just flying around with the sticks in the center. But you will find everyone is different. When I covered the JR challenge for 3-d flyer mag I interviewed all the guys in the unlimited class and truly everyone's setup was different. Go back to I believe the June issue and there are specs for everyone. The bottom line comes down to what you are comfortable with.

the way i saw it, instead of learning with it and then weaning myself off, i jst learned to fly without expo.
worked for me, but still just my $0.03AUD, (exchange rate)

I max all of my surfaces and usually start around 70% expo. I usually leave it like that. As far as mixing I tried the spoileron mixing and in my opinion doesn't help. MY UCD 60, Yak54 , mini 3d and foamies all harrier fine without it. I crashed my UCD 60 with spoileron mixing due to the wing stalling, Go figure.

I use about 50% expo on all surfaces. I've been experimenting with spoileron mixing for harriers and hovering and flaperons for flipping and such. I don't use ail-rud mix since I came off heli's and know how to coordinate a turn.

Wow, I found that for 3D stuff, less is better. The high expo (>30%) works well for IMAC style flying. For Hovering less kept me from chasing the thing around. I found that the control surface would suddenly move too much as I was feeding in the control. I think linier control movement all the way through the travel is important.
So, for me <30% works well.
