Hi all
I am about 80% done with an Upror 40. I have a 40 Rossi on l her and a few mods. She was a kit. Other than added support, the only thing I did was added a turtal deck. The reason was I have read she just will not Knife well. Has anyone did this and how did it work. If anyone is interested I will post a photo of the turtle deck. It also seems to me there is not alot in the tail as far as controls ELV. RUD. If the turtle deck fixs the knife then it should be easy to add a little back there. Has anyone added to the tail controls, and if so could you please post those mods.

OK, correct me if I am wrong. I did not know that the turtle deck should be on bottom.
HE HE . Sparta, I should have know HE HE. I fly at MRC do I know you. Anyway The turtle deck I put on the Uproar is like the one on the Balsa Nova, (triangle) about 4 inches from the leading edge, which will knife loop all day. I have my fingers crossed.

Let see some pictures
And also having a tall fuse dosnt always help KE, look at the Seagull Harrier 46, the fuse is way tall all the way to the tail and its the worst KE plane iv ever flown.
Im not saying it dosnt help but it wont help coupling issues if you have them.
I still really want to see this though, please do post some pics if you can

I put a turtle deck on an uproar. It would KE well. I would recommend more power than the rossi 40 and it will need to be tail heavy. It was ok for KE but not the best I have flown. I also increased the rudder alot. it really needs for side area upfront.

Umm i said end not bottom
Normally a turtle deck ends at the cockpit, were the canopy begins. Kinda hard to tell ya whats up without an accurate description. HEHE is that like the show you probably watch called heehaw, or did you run out of breath thinking up the reply? Maybe you know me, ever sell a twinstar with os 40 la's to a guy in a green hat in McDonald's parking lot, also had a Pizzaz for sale think a OS four stroke on it?

like I stated only about 80% done. You can see, hopeful what I am trying to do. No never sold a Pizzaz (spelled Pizazz), but I do have one with an OS 61 fp. The only twin I have ever had is and now is a OV 10 Bronco. I never watched HEWHAW to busy in college. 1st year law student now. Out of breath now. Anyways sparta is not that far. You should come down and fly with us some time. You most likely will get to see this one hit.

Julian537, it looks like you have a rossi on your Uproar. Did the added rudder help, and was the power there when you needed it. I have run the Rossi's on Pylon planes with the smaller props and they where awesome, but it seems they lost power as I went up in prop.

I had a rossi .40 on my uproar. I ended up putting a 46 ax on it. The larger rudder helped tremendously. It would flat spin well. if you add more rudder, make sure that you add counter balance to it, so it is easier on the servo.

Thank you for your reply Julian537. I was thinking why did you go with the AX. I have a Rossi on a viper and an OS 46 AX on a predator. The Viper will smoke the Predator. I think it is safe to say there is no way a Rossi 40 has less power than an OS 46. I would even say the Super Tigre 51 has more power too. Not to dis-credit the OS 46 (super engine) because I have 2, and they are light. My question is why did you go with a 46 AX. was it a weight issue? I put on ALU. landing gear and tossed the wire. If it was a weight issue, I may have to put on my 46 AX. The Rossi is heavy and the landing gear will add too, I would think. Hang in there with me. I admit I am new to 3D (1 1/2 years). I was into warbirds then into pylon and jets. I am in the learning mode again.
Thanks

Is that you Mike? I put the ol' Magic in the ground Sunday. I was trying to hover it and accidentally learned how to flat spin I think. I did it 3 or 4 times, all with scary moments right before it finally came out of the spin. The last flight of the day it wouldn't come out of it! Oh well, not the first one I will have to fix. Devin

Yes, it is me Mike
Fix that magic. You had it really doing good the last time I saw you flying it. I may have this uproar done by the weekend. If I do, it will be my turn to get stupid and make a mess(hope not). With all the mods I really just do not know what she will do.

Now, I see why you went with the AX. I am about 95% done and I can tell she is going to be real nose heavy. Where did you install the battery.
devin_hor , do I have your email address. If not PM it to me so I can put you on the list.
Thanks

I got the Magic fixed, if it's pretty sunday I'll try it out again. It doesn't look to bad in Super Decathalon red! I had to fix it too and didn't want to buy 2 rolls of covering! prophanger1, I fly in McMinnville too, I haven't seen anybody flying in Sparta, where do you fly?
Mike, my email is [email protected]. Have you got the uproar done yet? I finally got my servos and supertiger .90 for that extra! I'll probably try it out in a week or two!

Ok
I am all done. Ready to take flight , but the CG is off bad. Julian537, you had this similar set up. Where did you put the battery. The only thing I know to do is put the uproar on a CG machine and move the batter intil I get the correct CG. Then, cut and install the battery in side the fusl. which will be behind the trailing edge of the wing. Help!

Freebird, I flew my plane with a rossi .40 for a full season before I added the 46ax. I had everything in the stock locations for the rossi .40. I had the three servos in the belly just aft of the spar. I had my battery and RX in front of the spar.
Are you saying that you plane is very nose heavy? where is it balancing right now? I had my balanced about 1/2 and inch behind the spar.
