Default super stinker snapping with just rudder?

Hi all,
This is my first post here, I just got my first aerobatic type plane. I have been flying since I was 14 (now34), but mostly giant scale warbirds.
The first thing I noticed on this plane was how SUPER sensitive the rudder is (maybe that's where they got super stinker from)!
When I put in more than a touch of rudder it wants to snap violently (maybe it is suposed to do that....), but I am used to flying with rudder and aileron and I am scared that I am going to snap it unexpectedly. I now have about 80% exp in.
It also makes it impossible to slip it in on a crosswind.

Any ideas? Is this normal for the stinker, or should I check something out on the setup?

Thanks in advance.

p.s. it also will snap on an inverted loop...I am going to check the elevators to make sure they are moving the same amount... other than that it flies great!

Default rudder snapping

Which kit is this? Sounds good to me...
My small Kyosho S2c does that also, You can try moving the cg foward a bit or use dual rates on the rudder if availible. Low set for knife edge and high for hovering and such. As far as the elevators usually it means too much throw input in the maneuver, try a lower rate and see what happens.
I had a 1/3 scale superstar do the same, (rudder snap) almost lost it doing knife edge snaps till I cut the throw way back.
Then I lost it in a inadvertant hover.

I think the moment is too short... I flew a very short bipe not long ago and the rudder on that was sufficent to do a full roll in about a second, add a tiny bit of elevator and you got a really wicked snap!!

This is posibly the cause, as my Ultimate with quite long moment has no tendency whatsoever..

That's my guess based on experience.

THAT IS WHAT BIPLANES DO----Welch3D is correct. That is what made the Pitts so spectalar--that is also why you are able to get those breath-taking tumbles(AKA Sean B Tucker, Jim Leroy--compare their act to Patty Wagstaff or Matt Chapman). I love a Pitts, but they are a different animal. The shorter the fuse, the more responsive the rudder. I was amazed at the rudder authority on my first Pitts. It was VERY SMALL compared to the rest of the control surfaces, but boy did it throw the plane around! After owning a few Ultimates I thought all bipes were the same. As the saying goes--"think again"--There is a world of difference.
I too fly a lot with rudder, and being used to warbirds, I understand your concern. If it were me--I would take out some throw instead of large amounts of expo. It may not turn as fast, but the potential for disaster is reduced until it becomes second nature. Also--as stated above, the CG can help.

I agree, you need less total movement of the rudder (lower rate). I would also look real close at the total incedence (sp?) of the wings from root to tip and check the hor stab too. Settings should be on the plans.

We build a Giant BEERCAT bipe that did the same thing even when going slow. We moved the CG forward almost an inch, reset the top wing incedence and reduced the rudder movement. Then it flew great. Good luck.
