Default Tower uproar?

What about a tower uproar. Could you get it with the right setup to hover? What about knife edge? Please any help will be appreciated!

I have the uproar 60. I really like that plane. I build mine as a kit. When I built it I added 1 1/2" to the elevator and Rudder from the hinge line back and 1 1/2" to the ailerons from the hinge back. I did this after watching an uproar 40 at our flying field. I am really glad that I did because this plane is a real animal now. It hovers, Knife's and does several other 3D moves well. It does take some learning to get it to do 3D. Its not as good as most of the 3D Designed profiles out there, but in my opinion is does some other things better, smoother too. I have had my uproar 60 2 years now ant it is one of my most enjoyable planes if not the best 3D plane or best pattern plane. It is one of the most fun planes

Hi

The uproar is a really good flyer as 65 chevy stated with a few mods. I would go with the kit. I built the 40 size and added 3/4 to the rudder and 1/2 to the Elv. I also added a deck as you can see in the photo. Really simple to do and it will track on a rail. After 2 members at my club saw her fly, they are building one with my mods. If you go with the 40 I will be glad to help you. If you go with the 60 I am sure 65 chevy can help you. I would go with the deck as it aids in the knife and tracking.

Sorry, the photo does not show the added controls. I took the photo before her first flight. After a few flights I put her back on the bench and added the controls. Now, she is sweet!!!!

The uproar is a great little sport plane, but if you are wanting to try and hover, there is little you can do to make it a good hover machine, without extensive mods, in which case you are better off getting an airplane designed for that purpose.

There are quite a few airplanes out ther for not a whole lot of extra $$$$

If you want a plane that is nimble, easy to build, and good for loops and rolls then that is a god choice.

If you would like a list of what I think to be good 3D and hovering machines let me know and I will give you my opinion.

HitecMan,
As noted the plane is really a fun design. The modifications mentioned will make it perform better. I would suggest adding about 2 to 3" to the fuse length also. This may require new sides which would need a couple of pieces additional balsa. Knife edge is all but non existant with the wing vertical. Tipping the wing 10 degrees or so will allow it to do better. Knife edge needs 1.Side area and 2.Speed to produce lift. Speed in this kind of plane can be a problem by producing flutter. Take a look a the Showtime from H-9 threads with the additional side area from the SFG's (side force generators). The plane is really an easy build with few parts and the one piece design means you are ready when you arrive at the field. There have been a few flyers that a one piece design is difficult to transport since the wing doesn't come off the fuselage. As others have mentioned there are many newer designs that perform 3D better. One of my personal favorites is the Mojo. It is a profile design and one of the best designs available today for 3D. Build time is about the same as the Uproar. Hope this helps.

Hey bud since you already have a sig fazer and I am sure plenty of experience with it, you should give a profile a try. I have a uproar 40 and it is great, but after your fazer I think it will not do much or anything more than the fazer ever has for you. I hope I'm wrong because I see under your "garage" that you have a uproar in there with out a pick. I built my uproar and then bought a H9 twist after which I got a mojo 40. The twist was the most "FUN" plane I have ever owned and the mojo is simply one of the best 3D/FUN-FLY type planes ever. Here is were people say that they just what a sport plane so they look past airplanes designed for 3D. Well 3D planes have the BEST slow speed handle of any airplanes period. They land slow as can be and are as cheap as anything. Sorry, got a little carried away but don't rule them out because on low rates they fly like an uproar or twist. When you want to, you can then increase the rates and go nuts.

If you do intend to hover with your uproar you should bring the ailerons, full width, all the way to the fus because thats were the prop blast is. skip the taper.
Think about increasing the height (top & bottom further apart) to give it some side area for KE stuff.
The lack of side area make the rudder seam inefective.

If you have questions I still have mine hanging on the wall and would be glad to help also.

Have fun building,
Dave

Hi again

The plane again need a few mods, but at the price for the kit come on it can not be beat. As stated earlier it could flutter. I have a rossi 40 on mine and it has been clocked at 77MPH flat line with no flutter yet. But I knew that it could and will occur if not supported. you greatly limit that by placeing triangle stock in the stab. I do not know about other builders but I use thin CA and then go back and place a drop of 30 min Expoy in EVERY joint. I do not know about your skill leval, but the uproar can be flown slow and easy or get wild too. I say go for it with the uproar. It is an easy kit to build, and the mods are not bad either. MOJO65-9or10 made a statement that makes me think about putting mine back on the bench. I went with the taper on the Al. and I think he is right. should help with hover. Add the rudder and trutal deck and she will knife.

Thanks guys! What im looking for is just a little sport plane to throw in the truck and go fly the heck out of it. I already have a 3-d plane (funstar) and I am just looking for a diffrent type flying model. Do you think a supertiger 40 a 10-7 would be a good match?

If you have one the ST will be fine and give you all the Power you will want. The 40 size engine are a little heavy, but will work well. That is another reason I would go with the kit. I had to move my battery behind the wing to keep from adding weight. I khave a rossi 40 on mine If I was going to buy an engine I would say a Speed webra 32. I would go with an APC 10x6. That prop seem to be in the sweet spot of the supertigre 40 from my exp. Again, add triangle stock to the joints, add the turtal deck, and add at least 1/2 to the rudder and you will have a plane you will love. When you get started, drop me a pm and I will be glad to walk you thru the whole build.
