Default CF Linkages

Hey ppl

I am going to be making some CF linkages today for a 35% Giles.

ANyhow I have seen several posts about JB Weld and ppl say thats the thing to use.

When I was at the store today I saw J-B Weld and J-B Kwik both are obviously J-B Weld but the Kwik only holds to 1/2 the temp of the weld. I was curious if it mattered which one I used for this application?

Any Thoughts?

i wouldnt be doing any expermenting on any parts for a 33% anything!
i would use the true and tested regular JB weld
i have used this with central hobbies carbon fiber in 3 different planes and never a hint of failure[8D]

On linkages less than 8" Just run fully threaded 4-40 rod trough CF tube with a nut on each end. Your not saving weight but you are adding rigidity and bling.

IMO if you use the JB weld method on anything less than 6 or 8 inches your not saving any weight and your adding a possible point of failure.

actually while I was waiting for a response I decided to just use 4/40 with a nut on each end.. it turned out to be a 5" piece so I couldnt see saving any weight and I figured the extra weight was worth the piece of mind

thanks for the comments

While anything can fail I have yet had a CF rod with JB weld fail no matter the length.
The shortest ones I have are basicly two titanium rod ends JB welded together with a CF rod over them.
On my Cap Maniac I used very small ones on the ailerons and flew this airplane for a long time and the rods
performed flawlessly. I ended up cutting down one of the small peices off of the end of the rod ends and then applied
JB weld to both of the rod ends and inserted them into the small peice of CF tube. So basicly the rod ends are JB welded
together along with the CF rod to both of them. This actually could be stronger than a large piece of CF rod that the
rod end is only JB welded to the end of the CF rod and all the parts hooked to each other.
Here is a picture of the wing servo on the Cap Maniac.
