Redfly, I use 15% nitro with 17-18% synthetic, but I add a couple of ounces of Klotz castor for additional protection. For the 82, a 13x8 wood prop will be good for break-in. Remember to use double jam lock nut for safety. The Saito plug is good for break-in, but I normally change to an OS F after break-in. My break-in program is something like this:

High-end needle 4 turns out, low-end needle factory set (0.5mm from flush)

4000 rpm max first 15-20 mins

5500 rpm subsequent 10 mins

6500 rpm subsequent 10 mins

7500 rpm subsequent 10 mins

At this point break-in is considered completed.

Adjust high and low ends. Richen the high end 300-400 rpm from the peak. It may be difficult to get a solid idle of 2000 rpm initially, but after 1-2 gallons, it should be easier

Adjust valve gaps to 0.002 inch after 1-2 hours

All the best to you!

15% nitro is fine. 18% oil is minimum. For the low-end needle, use the factory setting. For the high speed needle, 4 turns open. Manage the throttle with your throttle stick, do not change the needle positions.

my manual says to turn the HS needle out 2 1/2 out

it also says to run it no more than 4000 rpm's for the first 10 minutes and you should keep the glow charger on because of the rich setting

after the first 10 minutes you can play with the throttle

the manual also says 40 minutes is considered a good breakin period then start to lean out the HS and LS

on my 82 i had the plane in the air on the 3rd tank running rich and slowly leaned the HS/LS every other tank as needed

I always check the valves and lube the rocker arms and push rods just before I start it for the first time. A few have been completely dry of lube and a couple have been wet with a dark oil.

Oiling the rockers and down the pushrods should be done as per the instructions. The black oil is molybdenum lube oil from the factory.
