I have a Hangar 9 33% Extra 330L. I have been trying to learn to torque roll with this plane but I seem to be all over the sky with it. I can torque roll, hover my UCD all day long but not this plane. I noticed that in a full throttle vertical climb, the plane tends to pull a bit left and to the canopy slightly.THe firewall has right and down thrust built into it.I added a bit more last weekend but have not had a chance to fly it since. Do you think this will help my hover stability? Also,I have tried different pitches of props on it. I am flying a GT80 and I have tried a 26x8 and a 24x10.The 26x8 gives more vertical but doesn't seem as stable in a hover. Is this normal? I can hover less than half throttle with this combination and have plenty of power reserve for climbout. But she's squirrely. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The UCD is down right the easiest plane to hover. It was designed to do that. A SA plane is not designed to hover, however its all in the thumbs. Remember, shorter moment and the control surfaces are not a big as on the UCD. Right thrust can make a difference. Prop choice will determine if you can find the "sweet spot" on the throttle or if you need to work the throttle.
Keep at it, you will get it.

Less stable in hover how? In vertical movement, or from the plane trying to fall out? The larger prop will give more torque, spiraling slipstream, etc, so maybe your plane isn't trimmed for the 26x8 prop.

It seems like if I keep it barely climbing,it's more stable. It's when I stop that it falls out. Just doesn't seem to lock in like my UCD.

Just keep practicing with it.
It will be harder to keep it balanced. You have to react faster and not let it lean too far before correction.
